    Well, on to Plan B

Why don't they attend one of the Maritime schools - SUNY Maritime, Cal Maritime, Mass Maritime, Maine Maritime, Texas A&M Galveston instead of doing the self prep? They are as academically rigorous as CG and you still have a regimented lifestyle. The Direct Commission(MARGRAD) Maritime Academy...

    Academic Support At USMMA?

I believe the class of 2024 has 12 navy flight slots. Often times you don't get into those other service academies to make the good grades you refer to hence the USMMA slogan "easiest academy to get into but the hardest to graduate from".

    Academic Support At USMMA?

The curriculum map for each major is really what you should be looking at to get a feel for how rigorous it could be. https://www.usmma.edu/sites/usmma.dot.gov/files/2020-04/Curriculum2023.pdf I would take time looking at what is expected of you each semester and couple that with both sports...

    USMMA vs USNA

Remember there are only 5 majors at USMMA and 26 at Navy. If you are successful with your engineering courses you are in good shape but if you decide engineering is not for you you have very limited choices.

Taxis/ride shares/rental cars near train stations

Croton-Harmon has the most express trains running north from grand central so I think it's a better option if you want to rent a car. There is an Enterprise car rental nearby, but not in close walking distance maybe 2 miles tops from the station. They are very nice there and I think they might...

    Yesterday at KP

Its first tri finals this week, so of course there was a water main break on campus yesterday morning. No showers, toilets, etc. Wish I was shocked but the infrastructure there is so antiquated nothing surprises you. When they finally are able to fix the pipe one of the valves being flushed...

    Plebe regrets

You are absolutely smart enough to be at USMMA! There are majors issues going on at all colleges due to covid 19 and the educational gaps that it caused when schools were closed and learning was done remotely. Go see your professors, ask for a tutor and grind away...

    Honest Question

Sea year is a mixed bag as a female. Many have great experiences and for others the completion of sea year and getting off the ship can’t come fast enough. You never know until you are actually on a ship which you are going to get.

Photographer during INDOC / USMMA July 2023 / Class of 2027

They usually have photographers and they do get posted but there is a lag. Then it is "Finding Waldo" on your end. Once the male mids hair is shaved good luck, females a bit easier!

    EE savings bonds

My mid has EE bonds that have matured. Can I roll them over tax free into the 529 we already have set up and they could then cash out the 529 if it's not needed for grad school down the road? I know I need to ask a CPA just curious what others may have done.

    Considering Leaving

I see people mentioning working shore side instead of sailing on their license. How does one work shore side say as an engineer, with the obligation to keep your us coast guard license active for 5 years.

USMMA - NROTC - Plan C: ‘what ifs’

Indoc was completed. Was briefly able to get out of doing certain activities and then pushed through a great deal of pain to meet all of the requirements. Agree with Stars&Stripes about not knowing what happened due to the no phone policy for plebes and not see them in any pictures.

USMMA - NROTC - Plan C: ‘what ifs’

My mid got hurt during indoc. Was very iffy if they were going to be able to complete it. There is a difference I believe in not finishing indoc and possibly being set back vs having some additional time to heal from a non disqualifying injury and continuing at another school on your ROTC...

    Requesting Guidance

Tough choice indeed. Both great institutions that will set you up for your now future goals. I would think about what kind of student you really are. Do you thrive on course overloading? The academics at KP can be brutal, just due to the pace of classes, finishing your academics requirements in...

Most open curriculum schools with ROTC?

Union is probably a 25 minute drive to Siena. Just remember that for the morning pt drive. I'm assuming you will also apply for the Army ROTC scholarship. That being said, if you have the grades and are looking at schools like Princeton and Georgetown, Siena would give you a great merit aid...
