Questions about BCT Dates and when parents can visit the cadets after BCT

BTW, if you are a Class of 2028 parent and you have not yet joined the Facebook group, I highly encourage you to do so as quickly as you can. You will need a copy of your child’s appointment letter. The Class of 2027 Parents page has been a wonderful resource and I think I would have lost my...

Questions about BCT Dates and when parents can visit the cadets after BCT

Last year A-Day was the Wednesday before classes started on Thursday. Because the A-Day parade is accepting the Doolies into the Cadet Wing, it cannot happen until the entire cadet wing returns… which this summer will happen on August 3rd. Classes start on August 8. So, A-Day has to happen on...

Question about packing list and boots?

It depends on the UOD (Uniform of the Day). If wearing OPC or flight suits, then yes, you wear boots.

Question about packing list and boots?

We bought our son Danner Tanicus boots, which he loved during the warmer weather. Once it got cold out there, we sent him a pair of Merrell MQC Thermo Gortex boots. His squad had a training session in the cold and his feet never even got chilled! He loved both sets and likes having the...

    Watching it get real

The Academy will give your cadet either 1 or 2 pairs of boots… they need to have 2 total. The issued boots are known to the cadets as “bricks” so… we bought our DS a pair and he broke them in prior to reporting on I-Day. Review the boot info in the Appointee Handbook. But, it is highly suggested...

    First Large Group Appointments

Last year my DS was notified on Wednesday March 8 by our MOC and his appointment was present in his portal on Tuesday March 14. He was part of the “big” push for the class of 2027. The previous year, someone from his high school was notified in the same time frame, notification on Wednesday...

Class of 2028 Info on In-processing

For 2027 it was later in the afternoon… I want to say about 4:30pm, but since we didn’t go, that is an approximation. The “real” swear-in happens on I-Day, in waves as they process through. This is just the opportunity for the entire class to say the words together. People posted video and...

Class of 2028 Info on In-processing

It will take your DS a while to get used to the altitude… the Basic Cadets will spend the first few weeks on the hill, doing PT but also doing lots of “hurry up and wait” things, like briefings. The bigger physical things come when they march out to Jack’s Valley, at some point in mid-July. a...

Class of 2028 Info on In-processing

I-Day is Wednesday, June 26th. We left very early on Friday, and stopped at the Museum of the Air Force at Wright-Patterson Friday afternoon. We spent Friday night just east of Indianapolis, Saturday west of Topeka, then arrived in Colo Spgs Sunday afternoon. Monday and Tuesday am we explored...

Class of 2028 Info on In-processing

Last year we drove from PA to Colo Spgs, arriving on the Sunday prior to I-Day. It was a nice family trip prior to dropping our son off. I would recommend to your parents that they should plan on staying in Colo Spgs for I-Day. The programs at the Academy were very reassuring for us parents and...

    It's NOT spelled "Acronym"

Um, was this is PA course, or… because, as a PA tax payer, I too want my taxes back if this comes from the PA government! I am not a great speller (unless they are chemical terms…) but… wow!

    Erin Go Bragh

We visited Ireland during early March, 2000 (not over St. Patrick’s Day!) and it’s one of our favorite trips. And, yes, we climbed the steps and made the kiss!

AFROTC Selection Results Just Posted 3/14/23 pm

DS received his Type-1 offer as well… but, he will be declining it, as he was just appointed to the USAFA, which is his top choice. Congrats to all the scholarship winners! It is a huge achievement!

    Spring break

We took a family trip to that historic canyon and the park next door almost 6 years ago… Amazing! That is just a gobsmacking gorgeous area of our country! Glad he’s enjoying it.
