    Ask a Plebe

It was over the course of high school. The academy looks at 9-12 grade, so anything thats resume worthy during those 4 years should be reported.

My GPA was not stellar, I believe I had a 3.75ish cGPA. In the subjects that USNA looks at for the ACT I scored a 32 and a 28 in English and math respectively. I was team captain of my swim team junior and senior year. I started my own Triathlon club at my school which promptly took a nose dive...

    Ask a Plebe

Every company is different in their ways. My company has 4 of us stand on deck plates and yell in different directions. One person will call out " X Company X minute chow call.... Ready? Execute!" and then every plebe joins in. The only reason a plebe is allowed to miss chow calls is if they are...

All the musical groups/clubs receive music chits so they can listen to music in company area. Beyond that you can definitely listen to the music you make.

    Ask a Plebe

For my essays to the academies/nominations I tried to tell a short narrative story about the specific moment that inspired me to come to the naval academy. I wrote about when I went to the Arizona Memorial and I saw the names of those sailors who made the ultimate sacrifice, and then looking...

    Ask a Plebe

The week after PPW will vary per company, but mine was incredibly boring. I honesty can't remember what we did after parents weekend. Hell night, wasn't hellish at all. In fact it was mostly funny. The upperclass did a great job of creating clever ways to mess with you, while at the same time...

The SOP is three minutes. Practice holding it for 3:30-4:00 minute intervals with a minute break in between.

I am also a plebe, and I would be willing to answer questions. I'm a direct, I went to both STEM and NASS, and I feel like I represent a very average plebe here; which is good for the purposes of this thread.

    NASS advice

I wrote on a post awhile back about what goes on at NASS and AFSS. I'll go find the post if you want it.

    NASS advice

I agree with everything ^ they said. But I would add one thing. Ask a lot of questions about the Academy; whether it's from midshipmen or the teachers. It shows enthusiasm, and you'll get a good feel for the place. Also, if the mid store still has them, pick up a pair of the American Flag board...

    Acceptances for Summer Seminar Out

I was accepted to AFSS, and wait listed for NASS. Although, I was fortunate enough to end up going to NASS as well.

    Nerves before accepting appointment normal?

About a week after I got an appointment it felt like somebody had ripped my stomach out and left a gaping hole in its wake. Doubts were constantly spiraling in my head for a couple weeks. What helped me get rid of them was to start training for what I felt nervous about. I began running...
