Crosstown - how was your experience?

Thanks for everyones thoughts! He would be able to do PT at his college with ARTOC. He will be part of AFROTC at crosstown and its' my understanding he will only need to travel once a week for LLAB. But yes, I think it might be hard to go above and beyond and be involved extensively from so...

Crosstown - how was your experience?

It is 1 1/2 hours one way, so 3 hours round trip.

Crosstown - how was your experience?

I have started a few threads which have given some insight on crosstown, and having ROTC is better on campus definitely, but we are at a new $40K difference over four years (due to better ACT score result) now in having it on campus or driving three hours round trip to ROTC to save with both...

    Air National Guard- any experience?

Very good points! I think he will be doing a different university (he has two he is picking from this week) with an AFROTC on site instead this first year, and see how it goes. After the first year is under his belt, he can then decide if Air Guard would be a better route or if he can handle...

    Air National Guard- any experience?

As we look into plan C and plan D, does anyone have any experience or helpful information about doing Air National Guard in college at the same time as AFROTC if they have a simultaneous program as the army does or doing it instead of AFROTC since ds did not receive an AFROTC scholarship and the...

    When do rejections come out?

This doesn't seem like a good sign. Does this mean candidates will be competing against the 3rd board as well??

That is great your dd is able to get a major that qualified her for the scholarship and that she can also enjoy. It definitely won't hurt her chances at being an Air Force pilot, as I have been learning that it doesn't matter what you major in but that you do well. I am concerned as you...

On a side note, does anyone know that if you can use a type 7 ROTC scholarship if you receive one to go to out of state school if that state already gives in state tuition to students if they do AFROTC such as Oklahoma and Kansas does? Or do you have to stay in your state?

Good to know! He would definitely take that in a heartbeat. Even if he doesn't get an appointment into the USAFA, he will not give up on his dream and would pursue any opportunity like the falcon scholarship that they would give him.

We are in the midwest, and looking for a school he could easily drive in a day, which Philly would not be possible, but thanks! Yes, if crosstown was really close, that wouldn't be so bad.

DS is hoping to get the best of both world if possible and not have to do a crosstown, but not compromise the education piece of picking a school. Thank you!

We just came to this same conclusion too! I think we are ruling out one school we visited, because of its one hour drive one way to ROTC. My son wants to do all that ROTC has and be involved in it as much as possible, so it only makes sense for him to go to a school with one on campus.

I have been reading various posts, and its very exciting for those that get into the USAFA and get to pursue that dream. But time and time again, I read those that didn't get in, that went AFROTC, and are so glad of the path they went, and can't imagine doing anything different, which is...
