Air Assault School graduation at West Point

Update: my son graduated Friday. Ceremony was on the field at 11; insanely hot and mercifully short. Parked in Buffalo soldier lot and walked to/from (which is a long walk on a hot day; I was thankful to have my umbrella and dressed appropriately). I did a campus tour through West Point Tours...

Air Assault School graduation at West Point

My son's mentee is doing this; I met him at graduation and took a picture of them together. So maybe it was your kid! But I know he's not the only OPFOR from VT there this summer. Advanced camp is really going to be a breeze for him!

I have nothing and I don't think our kids have been given any answers either. I found youtube videos for the first class this summer, and well as another from last summer. I will find the links and send them. But I have zippo info on this year. I am using miles to fly from NC. My son will...

Air Assault School graduation at West Point

I made travel arrangements to attend, but no, I can't find anything about graduation time for the ceremony or parking or basically anything else. I was able to find youtube videos for the first class this summer as well as another class last year. One was indoors, one was out. Probably weather...

Air Assault School graduation at West Point

My son did not have the right gloves. He's an incredibly meticulous person, so I'm guessing whatever packing list he had was in error. He was able to get the correct kind at the West Point PX no problem, before everything started. It sounds like before day zero, they had some assistance...

Air Assault School graduation at West Point

@Overwhelmed yes, I did go to Ft Knox for that graduation. I am very glad I did, but I was uncertain about that one beforehand as well. They have family day on the day before; they release the cadets to their families for about 8 hours. They can leave the base, go out to eat, etc. We took 2...

Air Assault School graduation at West Point

Thanks, everyone! @USMAZoo98 , He just passed "day zero" today, and July 15 should be the end. @Bushrod it's definitely possible! :) He was in the first regiment for advanced camp, which ended last Wednesday. He went to 'holdover camp' at Ft. Knox until Saturday, when he flew to Newark. He's...

Air Assault School graduation at West Point

My apologies in advance if this question does not belong here. My son is a rising senior at Virginia Tech (corps of cadets) and going to air assault school at the West Point location in a few days. I am trying to decide whether to make plans to attend the graduation, but having a hard time...

Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets - A few questions

My son just finished his sophomore year and I agree with everything NJ_Dad has said. Army is def. the focus, but there are lots of Navy and Air Force cadets as well. My son has been very happy with the corps and, despite the disruptions from COVID, satisfied with his overall VT experience too.

    Gift ideas?

Hello! I joined the service academy forums back when my son was applying to the Naval Academy. He was ultimately turned down and has spent the last 2 years in the Corps of Cadets at Virginia Tech. He has absolutely loved his experience there, despite all the "alterations" from COVID. This post...

    Gpa question

Not to make light of the situation, but I saw the title of this post and wondered why someone had a question about their grandpa

Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets vs Texas A&M Corps of Cadets

DS just finished freshman year at VT. Loves it. It's very hard to make an accurate comparison between schools, since he hasn't been a student anywhere else. I'm having a hard time believing VT is somehow "less rigorous," but suppose everyone thinks their program is the best :) If you've visited...

Corps "Hazing" Incident in Federal Court

A thorough read of the WHSV indicates multiple students complained or at least raised concerns, both prior to and after the event. Bloodpinning has a sensational name that likely led to an over-reaction from the university itself, which the Corps of Cadets is subject to and not allowed to act...

    Bad Moderation

This forum has much stricter rules than many other online groups. I personally appreciate that. Not being able to say whatever you want however you want, without regard to whether your comments are actually contributing something helpful, takes some people longer than others to get used to. I...
