    Preparation for Cadet Basic Training

I am in good shape but whenever I think of CBT, I get extremely nervous that I will mess up somehow so what are some good things to prepare for in regard to CBT? At the moment, I can do around 20 Pull Ups/ Chin Ups and over 60 push ups and can max the sit ups easily but I want to know some of...

Marijuana Use Question for Larry Mullen

I feel a little bad for the kid because his mom aired is laundry on a public forum which is most likely monitored by some of the Service Academies themselves and seeing as how she, most likely, put her full name as the account name for some reason then it wont be hard to find the cadet. On the...

So I just got the letter....

I thought I might update some people on my situation since I made the thread. Since then, I had to get medical waivers for two things which I luckily got and am now qualified and the actually paper that will allow me to accept my admission to USMAPS was sent today so I should get it by Thursday...

    Admission to the Prep School

I got accepted to USMAPS and I'm a URM (under represented minority?). I was told that my SAT score for Math wasn't high enough so they closed my profile then after I took my SAT a second time and got a higher score on the Math, my profile was reopened and they told me that I was going to be...

    DoDMERB misdiagnosis?

I dont have a murmur. An EKG and ultrasound cleared me. He said my heart was normal for an active 18 year old and it just made a noise when the blood was going through or something along those lines. I have never had rheumatic fever or endocarditis and the three things you listed never came up...

    DoDMERB misdiagnosis?

Alright, my bad. The waiver process just started. I'll just wait for some more info before wondering about what stuff means. I think DoDMERB might list all stuff that they see wrong then they give all the info for the Army to decide? I have nothing wrong with my heart as shown by the EKG and...

    DoDMERB misdiagnosis?

I think something was missed in translation. I haven't gone through the waiver process yet. I just started it. The Army hasn't weighed in yet. West Point doesn't even have my med records yet. West Point or anybody has denied a waiver nor given me one yet.

    DoDMERB misdiagnosis?

It was the Asthma I am pretty sure. My admissions person never mentioned the other thing other then in an email she sent me telling about the DQ and the waiver she sent in.

    DoDMERB misdiagnosis?

I never had heart disease or have it currently. The Admissions Recruiter that is doing my waiver only talked about the Asthma part. I got one remedial because the doctor thought I had a heart murmur. I did an ultrasound and EKG and my cardiologist told me I had a normal heart. Then I got...

    DoDMERB misdiagnosis?

I was disqualified by DoDMERB because of Asthma, for which I dont have and am seeking a waiver for it, and History of Valvular Heart Disease. The last can't be possible seeing as how my heart is perfectly healthy and has always been. The doctor that did the medical exam thought he heard a...

    what counts as a minority?

I saw the demographics for West Point and all I remember was that it said something like 6% African American or something like that.

    Extension Period beyond April 15

Does anyone know if West Point will grant an extension period of slightly beyond for April 15? I will be able to attend USMAPS when I am medically qualified by DoDMERB. All my records were sent in yesterday and I am afraid that I may need a waiver. DoDMERB has been fast with posting up about...

    TX NROTC/MO applicants?

I did the NROTC MO Option Schooarship just to see if I could get it. I live in Katy and still haven't heard anything. I already got into West Point but still just want to know whether I got it just because.

So I just got the letter....

Thanks for the info, Bill and Buff. I plan on going once I get medically cleared and I did have trouble in Math. I did awesome in the reading because I'm an avid writer. The 246 is really interesting and I am glad to have the privilege of being one of those 246. Once you do USMAPS do you...

    Physical Standards

Go to the gym and run. That is all there is to it. Take me for example, in 6 months I went from 6'1 157 lbs to around 6'2 180 lbs through working out and eating right. I went from barely 8 chin ups to 18 chin ups, for example. It is all about the hard work you put in and if you don't put in your...
