Air Assault opportunity worth missing classes???

These schools are attainable after commissioning and should not conflict with academics. If your DS really wants to do air assault/ airborne or whatever it may be they can earn those chances especially if they end up at certain duty stations. If you cough at Campbell or Bragg and it sounds like...

    Am I too old?

Not sure if it is just my state, but some of my friends enlisted in the NG and have received scholarships through that. Fairly minimal commitment and provides them with additional training from weekend drill plus the opportunity to be on the enlisted side of the household briefly prior to...

    Participation in Ranger Challenge

I did ranger challenge for the past two years and will not be returning for my third year. I too take pride in fitness and have excelled physically, however, every year I actually lose fitness ability due to ranger challenge. This is because my training is interrupted and our program does PT for...

    Army ROTC Physical Fitness Assessment

The females in my program who received scholarships for the most part max the APFT (42 pushups, 78 situps, 15:32 2-miler). I have no clue where the cutoff generally is but from what I have seen you will want to be closer to those numbers than farther.

    What to do after USMA?

Haha fortunately that is not him. He is trying to get another shot at BUDs and biding his time on the destroyer.

    What to do after USMA?

I have seen several people say similar things before that have since graduated from my Army ROTC program and gone on to selections (RASP, SFAS). One is now in 3rd Ranger Batt and the other did not make it through SFAS due to an injury and is now an infantry officer in the 82nd. Not a bad landing...

    ROTC Disenrollment Stories?

A few.... A DUI with general low performance, hot urinalysis, not showing up to most mandatory training

    Reapplying to USMA

As someone who was rejected from the CO/ 2024 and accepted to 2025 after a year of ROTC, I personally found that the biggest factors came from improving areas of weakness, showing physical improvement regardless of how fit you already were, and strong recommendation. I had two professors who...

    Is West Point worth it

I feel like I can speak to this a bit as I am a Freshman in ROTC and just turned down an appointment to USMA. One of the things that caused me to stay at my school was that I had fallen in love with it and my heart was no longer completely invested in going to USMA. The advice I was given is if...

Universities to apply to with AROTC

I got a 4 year my senior year to a school I ended up not picking and was able to transfer it very easily. Unless the program is one of the very large and competitive ones such as VT or an SMC, it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to assume you will be able to transfer it if needed.

    JMU, UMD, or UD AROTC

I go to school at another Virginia school and have interacted with some of the JMU cadets. They seem like they have a strong program and some good guys. Very solid option.

    Combining collegiate athlete and AROTC

I've watched several D1 athletes in my program really struggle to keep up with what is asked of them on top of their responsibilities as cadets. SMC's and service academies do a somewhat better job accommodating for this, but its going to be a grind regardless.
