How are my ROTC credentials looking so far?

If you retake your SAT and only improve 10 points, I would suggest hiring a "professional" SAT Tutor. That is the one thing I regret not doing for my son. He kept getting the same score even though he studied a lot. Several of his friends hired tutors and improved their scores by over 50...

    NROTC SCHOLARSHIP

USF is a great choice. The ROTC building is impressive. Most of the ROTC students (all branches) live in Maple Hall. It is walking distance from the ROTC building. If you do get accepted to USF and choose to go there, get with the Battalion on how to best use the scholarship, Bright Futures...

    NROTC SCHOLARSHIP

My son is in NROTC at Univ of Tampa (UT), which is a crosstown of Univ of South Florida (USF). He was awarded the 4yr scholarship to USF, but he did not get accepted to USF Tampa. USF accepted him to the St Petersburg campus. That would not work for him to commute multiple times each week to...

    NROTC MO PFT Questions

There are several ways to improve the run/PFT. Having done dozens during my 20 years in the USMC, I recommend wathing this video. Very simle and effective.

    NROTC New Student Indoctrination

You will get yelled at. Dont take it personal. Fix your mistake and move on. My son was in shape from playing hockey, so he breezed through the physical aspects of NSI. Show improvement from your previous PRTs. He said that the instructors look for teamwork and motivation. Those that have...

    GENERIC CROSSTOWN QUESTION

My son is attending Univ of Tampa which is a crosstown of Univ of South Florida. Freshmen at UT are not allowed vehicles if living on campus. He was an exception because he is in NROTC. Check with your son's college to see if there is a waiver for ROTC students. My son had to submit a letter...

    Room and Board

If your DD/DS is thinking about applying to a College/Univ in Florida, I know of two universities that will give you a merit scholarship if you are a ROTC scholarship recipient. Univ of Tampa and Jacksonville Univ will give you a merit scholarship to cover housing and a meal plan. My son who...

    ROTC with a sport

My son is a freshman and plays hockey. I told him up front, your priorities are Grades and NRTOC. Hockey is a very very distant third place. I told him that if you have any class that falls to a C, you need to stop hockey for a while until it gets back up to an A or B grade. So far he is...

    ROTC Resumes

Looks great so far. With regard to the SAT, if you dont improve by much, get yourself a hired tutor. That is the one mistake I made with my son. He kept getting similar scores each time he took the SAT. Keep shooting for 1300+

    NROTC advice

My son applied to his top 5 (actually top 8) colleges at the same time he was applying to NROTC. It took my son about 2 months to get his NROTC application complete, but a glitch in the systems kept saying something was missing. He missed two "looks" because of the glitch. We waited almost 3...

    NROTC advice

Recommend researching the Colleges/Universities that have NROTC. Look for those that have good mechanical engineering programs. Also look into colleges/universities that give you free or reduced costs for housing/meals. Housing costs at colleges are sometimes more than the tuition. Then look...

    In-State tuition for ROTC

You can add University of Tampa to the list. The in-state and out-of-state cost is the same. Also not that if your student get a 4yr ROTC scholarship, UT give them free housing and meals (15 per week).
