    Check In

Keep up the solid performance in school and your ECA's, exercise, but most importantly, enjoy life. don't dwell so much on getting in or not. As long as you have a solid plan B and a positive attitude, you'll be fine no matter where you go. And when you do decide to choose a commissioning...

    A-N begins early...missing anything?

oooohhh, good one....woop. That trophy's making a second trip back to USNA this year.

What 'back up' colleges did you apply to before choosing USNA?

Unfortunately not, but maybe one day I will

Plebe at USNA--give me your questions!

    How's the cow?

    Sub Drafting

I wasn't sub drafted, but my current shore duty was the result of 'needs of the navy' (my 20th choice out of 43 even though I was near the top for performance in my squadron). Additionally, I had several friends who were sub drafted when I was a mid. Some had to suck it up and accept the sub...

    Question about an extenuating grade

One grade will not make or break your admissions chances. The Admissions Dept. is looking for well-rounded individuals as prospective Midshipmen. Too often to applicants spool up about doing well that they stress and look past the other pieces of the puzzle that make up a desirable candidate...

Class of 2024 Priorities SAT/ACT or ECA

You'll be fine. I took 7 SAT's and 6 ACT's (yeah, I wanted to be accepted THAT badly and was, by no means, a great test taker). My best SAT scores were 680 in Reading and 590 in Math and my best overall ACT score was a 26. Granted, this was 10 years ago, but I'd say you've nothing to worry...

    Bruce Fleming saga cont.

The guy has serious issues and should not be in a classroom filled with potential military officers. I'm so glad I never had him for any of my English classes.

    Summer Training for Youngsters

Your mid will receive an e-mail about preferences for summer training at some point during the second semester. However, unlike what I read in an earlier post, your rank among your class has minimal, if any impact at all to what you're assigned for training.

    The big wait starts

The wait can seem like forever, but the year will fly. I didn't receive my BFE until April after shoveling snow for a few hours. It's hard to believe that I still remember it so vividly and it's already been 10 years since that day.

    Flat Feet

Flat feet or not, you'll be fine. I'm flat footed myself and happily still serving as an active duty aviator

    Enlisted Friend...Allowed?

People like to go high and right with this all the time and it's pretty irritating, as common sense seems to get thrown out the window a lot. If your son and his best friend since childhood have been friends for years, they 100% are allowed to remain friends. I'm in the same exact boat. I'm...

    Weekend Life

I'll start off by saying that there is no Saturday liberty if Navy Football is playing at home. As for liberty, Plebes: only have liberty from noon to midnight after "Saturday Morning Training" have to be in the seasonal dress uniform when on liberty. 3/C: liberty until midnight on Saturday...

    Waiver for ASTB Score?

I took the ASTB back in 2013. So unless the minumim passing scores have been bumped up since then, 4,5,5 is the minimum qualifier for both Pilot and NFO.
