It is an honor to serve.

NROTC and now acceptance to USNA

The answer is no. Typically, a scholarship student can drop out within the first two years and incur no obligation.

    Aviation

I would not really sweat it. I did not attend the Academy and my son did not get in, but I do know your son would not see any flight time for a substantial period of time. Remember, your son is going to be busy learning port from starboard, how to march and the Navy culture. While getting...

    Military Dependents

My son received multiple nominations from different members of West Virginia's MOC when he applied in 2013. He was born in VA. At that time he applied, we were living in Guantanamo Bay so he really had no other option but to seek nominations from them as he was not a legal resident of any...

    Honor Code--Cheating on Test

I cannot believe we are even having this discussion. Not sure of why the question was asked, but substitute any other offense for this. "What would happen to a Mid who got caught [stealing], [vandalizing], [making a false official statement], [assaulting], . . . ?" For the military to...

    What a Joke

Then that means people should give deference to what Professor Bruce Fleming has written on this subject. He was a member of the selection committee for years.

    What a Joke

All, my DS's TWE will be here next week. (MOCs had not heard anything on 3/27 and then letter went out 3/29 = TWE). I understand your frustration on having impressive quals and not knowing what prevented you from being selected. However, I have to tell you that it is a fact of life, not just...

Class of 2017 Mailbox Stalkers Club

All: I have noticed different languages contained in the TWEs. For example, my DS pulled up his TWE in the portal. The letter merely informed that he had not been selected for admission into the USAFA. Others have posted on here language discussing consideration for Prep School and Foundation...

Official USAFA Class of 2017 Appointment thread

DS received e-mail and the letter on the portal. Letter simply said "We regret to inform you that you have not been selected." It made no mention of Prep School or a Foundation Scholarship. It then went on to tell him what to do if he wanted to reapply or seek a commission via alternative...

    Havent heard yet

MOCs had not heard as of 3/27. Correspondence sent my USNA Admissions on 3/29. That tells me DS is getting a TWE.

USNA Class of 2017 Appointment Thread

Folks, try being in Guantanmo Bay. Mail sent out on the 29th will not get here until at least the 12th of April.

USNA Class of 2017 Appointment Thread

DS has been notifief (in response to question to them) that USNA Admission sent out something last Friday. Considering that none of his nominating MOCs (x3) had received any word from the USNA as of Wednesday the 27th, my assumption is that his envelope will be thin and white, vice big and fat...

    just got the news

Crew Chief, Was the letter postmarked 29 March? Just got confirmation that USNA Admissions sent correspondence to son as of that date. I also know his nominating Congressman and Senators have not heard anything which most likely his envelope will be thin and white vice big and fat. Thanks.
