    LDAC 2013

Regarding clustered targets...yes, some are clustered together; I don't know about all. As I understood from DS's explanation, there are two different point systems, each with designated target points. There are also targets with no points. From DS's letter, three targets were clustered...

    LDAC 2013

My DS is having all the fun he can stand at LDAC. We're actually receiving letters from him for the first time EVER (complete with an illustration of where he got stuck on one of the obstacles in the confidence course). He reported his first attempts at Land Nav (day and night) were...

    LDAC question

I'm mostly a lurker and have learned at lot from all of you. I do have questions now and then. Because I'm a mom who likes to know things and has absolutely no idea of the answer......who books the flight(s) to LDAC? Do we parents book and pay or is our role to drop the candidate off at the...

    Internships for AROTC cadets?

Thanks - I did not know that MS III indicated a contract. I thought it was simply third year AROTC!

    Internships for AROTC cadets?

Forgive my ignorance, but does the student need to be under contract before competing for an AROTC internship? I understand the MSIII part, but unclear as to the contracting part.

Good luck to you and your DS in his knob year! It's a challenging year for both of you. My son is in the Class of 2014. You'll be amazed (and IMO oh so proud) of the changes in your DS by the end of this year.

AROTC transfers, of a different kind.

At last year's AROTC orientation for the Class of 2014 - the day before matriculation - the cadet recruits were told one change of major was allowed (can't remember if caveats were attached). I don't know if the rules are changing for the Class of 2015. Having said that, MaristCollegeROTC...

    AROTC and GPA

Come on aboard the crazy train! Seriously, I am very proud of DS - he has learned a lot his freshman year. He set a goal and is working to achieve it. Good luck to all the DSs and DDs out there, and especially the parents. We ride the roller coaster with them. :shake:

    AROTC and GPA

Update We spoke with the ROO at son's college - Even though my DS lost his 4yr scholarship, he is not banned from applying for a 2yr scholarship. He has to really work on his grades - switching his major will help greatly. The scholarship competition will be stiff, and focus mainly on grades...

    AROTC and GPA

It's good to not be the only parent who's gone through this!!!! DS started out as Civil Engineering major - did not heed suggestions to switch majors before second semester. He switched to Criminal Justice after midterms second semester. Unfortunately, he had reduced his hours to just above...

    AROTC and GPA

Unfortunately, the scholarship is gone, as he was given one semester to bring his grades up and failed to do so. We'll find out what our options are in next week - stay tuned!
