It would be really hard as a college applicant to get in without those courses, in my opinion. Also in most places a 29 on the ACT isn't cutting it either. Best bet is to shoot higher for that and take some classes that a plebe would take and ace those.

What number grade would you consider a D?

Mostly theoretical. I'm struggling with calculus a little bit and I might finish with a grade in the high 70s, low 80s but don't know if that is disqualifying.

Has anybody here actually heard of someone getting their appointment rescinded for academic reasons? If so, what were the circumstances? Just wondering...
