Just adding to the puzzle, I got my appointment on April 1 and later found out that I was charged to one of the 20 ROTC slots nationally. They told me that they wait towards the very end for ROTC slots so they get slate winners who have ROTC noms out of the way. Best of luck to you!

My appointment was charged to my ROTC nom, got it on 1 April. For any college students lurking out there... expect to hear late if that's the route that USMA decides for you. They try to pretty much finish charging appointments to congressional slots before getting to ROTC slots.

They don't look at your underwear, mine have logos and it's fine. Socks just can't have any visible logos, so logos on the bottom of the foot are fine since that won't be visible.

For Founder's Day we are scheduled to have a dinner in (I assume) Full Dress. Bring semi-formal attire for that, but otherwise what you wear doesn't really matter so long as you present yourself well.

Don't rule out re-applying if his heart is truly set on the academy. Taking a year in ROTC to gain some real-world experience and then attending USMA is a path that I wouldn't trade for anything, I wish everyone had some social/military/academic experience before attending directly. Best of luck!
