Return for the Class of 2023...?

Is there a minimum number of graduating officers per year that USNA is required to produce? Im wondering if these '23's, with reduced time on the yard and, so far, no fleet experience, will be ready to sign 2 for 7's. For a kid who has no prior military experience, they are finding out very...

At inventory PRT this semester, they did push ups followed by plank.

Dep Dant is trying to fry all the Black N members who wore their sweaters to Halloween

Nope..rookie parent. Which is painfully obvious now that I think about it. I was thinking I would have to remember username so I went with the school DD was applying to and my own birth year. Of coure in hindsite your assumption makes more sense.

Dep Dant is trying to fry all the Black N members who wore their sweaters to Halloween

So I know it's hard to tell tone from text so let me clarify beforehand....this is a real question and not intended to be snarky...You are saying there is a written rule that they can't wear a black N? As I said before, i dont know all the details, but was under the impression that there is not...

Dep Dant is trying to fry all the Black N members who wore their sweaters to Halloween

Getting back to it, lol...i think the thought is that aside from the tradition aspect there are mids getting in trouble for breaking a rule that wasn't put in place beforehand. I won't claim to know all the details, but it appears to an outsider that the "Black N" kids participated in a...

    MO ROTC PFT

Last year DD did the PFT immediately folowing the interview portion. She arrived in business/interview clothing then changed for fitness portion. Not sure if all areas complete the same way, but it would be best to be prepred to complete both portions on the same day. Good luck to him!

NROTC - Marine Option - Selection Board Question

DD applied for NROTC MO last year. If I remember correctly her contact reached out to her, after she started the application in early September, to set up interviews and fitness test. Last year MO had 2(?) selection boards. In order to be eligible for the 1st, everything (application, test...

    Female wrestlers

Something to consider...while choosing not to compete against a girl for sport is one thing, any male considering a life of service needs to be able to overcome those values in "real life". DD is at USNA where they routinely participate in "ground fighting"- a combo of wrestling until...

What 'back up' colleges did you apply to before choosing USNA?

So funny...we are OSU. We told her if she chose Purdue or Penn State we could try and remain neutral...but all bets were off if she went to *ichigan. Kidding aside, have to down low admit I was impressed with the school up North.

What 'back up' colleges did you apply to before choosing USNA?

DD is a current plebe who had a ton of irons on the fire last year...she applied to state schools that she could get a full ride, based on academics alone. She also applied to Ohio State, Purdue, Penn State and Michigan in hopes of getting a NROTC-MO scholarhip. Fortunatly she was awarded that...

In what format did your LOA (pending nomination) arrive?

DD had a medical Dq that needed a waiver so she technically wasn't compete..but I would also say within about 30 days of completing her portion of the application. She didn't complete until late fall though, so the admissions board was already in full swing.

How are plebes ranked within companies?

If you haven't found "Academy Insider" yet I would suggest you google it. He has been doing a facebook live post every Sunday night explaning upcoming events and issues. He was a '17 grad of USNA. A couple of weeks ago he did a session that talked a lot about PS rankings...how and why they are...

    DoDMERB Tooth/Gum troubles

I do not know the exact wording of the question so I cannot advise you how to answer. Saying that, as a dental professional, a single root canal should not cause any long term complications or necessarily make you prone to any further dental problems. Answer the exact question honestly, but I...

    CFA Scores

I am almost positive that last year DD has to "pre-register" the CFA...meaning submit name/contact info of person who would administer the test and anticipted test date. The instructions for the person who admistered the test were sent directly to them. USNA was very clear that new scores...
