I have heard that there is a new retirement plan going into effect on 1 January 2018. How will this affect those of us who will be going to the Service Academies this year (Class of 2021)?

Last year, our status on the preliminary application was sent out May 6, 2016. Considering May 6 was yesterday, I would presume that they would be hearing relatively soon.

Is there a specific way the report times are organized? All but one person, including myself, that I have talked to has gotten a 0615 time. Just curious.

Does this refer to how many are going out as a whole, or how many they want to accept it?

There is no exact limit, but you also have to take into account how many students can get a nomination living in the same district. Two people from my school have gotten in so far this year, and a third is still waiting to hear. It all just depends on the situation and the applicants.

This forum is only a small percentage of the total class accepted (around 8-9% in past years). Based off stats, either they've have sent them out quicker, or more people are using the forum this year. There are a lot more appointments out there than those that are up here.

Yes, they seem to be the same thing. My friend's portal showed COA in the status section, but said LOA at the top after "Congratulations".

I know they were still going out as of yesterday. Cannot attest to how long they will actually be going out.

Why would it not count on your transcript if you took the class?

I wore khakis and a polo/button-up shirt. Was cold so I was wearing a jacket pretty much the whole time. But not everybody did this, so don't feel like you have to. Just look relatively "nice".
