From my perspective, the D1 aspect is probably what helped “push” the needle in their favor. Like many have said, most of the D1 recruits/athletes had just as outstanding superlatives than any other candidate, it’s just that they happened to be excellent athletes as well. They didn’t “eat-up”...

USNA Class of 2028 Waiting and Speculating

It’s all good. But feel like it’s time to let go. Some things are just not meant to be yours. I will make my decision eventually, but when I see how awesome the stats are for some re-applicants (that still get turned down a 2nd time) combined with my experience so far, just looks like it may...

Possibly, but tired of all the consolation prizes. To drag someone out this long and not even make a waitlist or NAPS tells me that that there was not much consideration.

To be honest, I would have been more keen to look at reapplying if they would have just turned me down when I didn’t get a nomination. The fact that they dragged it out this long is not really a cool thing to do.

Well, finally got the TD today. Turned down for NASS, turned down for Inspire (twice), didn’t get a nomination, and Annapolis was so kind to drag it out until April 16th to beat me down once more. Good luck to everyone else, it appears that Annapolis is just not in the cards for me.

Don't drive yourself crazy thinking about it. The only thing known is it's more than 1 and less than 1379 +/-

Anyone still pending without a nomination?

As the title says, no nomination. DODMERB clear no waivers needed. Annapolis requested course descriptions in early Feb after they knew I didn't get a nom from my MOC's. Please tell me it's not common practice to drag people out to April 15th just to say no dice.

"Yes. I said those who do both are the ones who clearly want to serve." Seems like a pretty clear swipe to me. Have you ever thought that a 17 y/o might not want to have to choose between NROTC and NROTC-MO just yet? As you may know, once you choose one, it's pretty difficult (if not...

You are entitled to your opinion and your observations. Maligning an entire groups intentions isn’t really a fair assumption don’t you think?

I guess if you are only going to try one time for SA admission, maybe the best way to go. For those who are going to try at least one more time, maybe not.

USNA Class of 2028 Waiting and Speculating

That’s a bad take. We have lost count of how many midshipmen we know that applied a second time after attending college and participating in ROTC as a college programmer on their own dime. Many with the idea that they would apply for a side load if they didn’t get in the 2nd time. Not to...

USNA Class of 2028 Waiting and Speculating

Are you implying that candidates that only apply to a SA and not for an ROTC scholarship as well are lacking in their desire to serve? That’s a pretty bold statement, and I have found that to not be remotely true at all.

Exactly. If you are expecting “love” from the Navy or Marine Corps, best to pivot to the Ivy. May want to skip the idea of the military altogether, for that matter.

As you mentioned, every state is different, but in Virginia homeschoolers have only been allowed to attend boys state for a couple of years now. And that is only because the homeschool association approached them and basically said they were prepared to litigate. Even now, you can get a...

USNA Class of 2028 Waiting and Speculating

We were told (and USNA docs we have seen seem to confirm this) that the admissions board can adjust a WPM score based upon objective or subjective factors, and can add or subtract blocks of points to compare candidates. One example that was used was when comparing a home-schooled candidate. In...
