    Academic Suspension

suspension isn't the end of the line. This too can be overcome with dedication and hard work. In the end, this will be just another hurdle you have to get over to complete the road you have chosen. there will be more along the road to success, and you will get over those as well.

    THANKS FOR THE SUPPORT

Thanks to all who have provided information through the years of my DS applying for, and making it through AFROTC. My DS just graduated and commissioned, and I was the proud recipient of his first salute. There was a lot of hard work on his part and challenges to overcome, but all those things...

    AMA: VMI Rat

the Rat Line is very structured and there is a lot of oversight. There is a great deal of care by the staff at VMI, as well as the cadet cadre, to ensure that no one over steps the framework of the Rat Line. There is a great deal of pride in the process and no one wants to be the cause of it...

Advance Math Class, Drop or Fail, For VMI and USNA

this may be an issue of knowing your limitations. It sounds like Calc is a must for USNA. If he wants that, or any STEM major, he has to be able to do Calc. My DS took AP Calc in high school, then took Calc 1 his first year in college. He stated AP calc was a joke compared to college calc 1...

    LEAD

DS finally completed AFROTC LEAD. This has been a saga. He is an Electronical and Computer Engineering major. His freshman semester was great and ended with a 3.5 gpa. He looked at the remaining schedule of 21 credit hours per semester for the next 3 years and requested, and was granted, a...

    AFROTC LEAD Questions

LEAD has been significantly condensed this year, almost by half. That means the "free time" time they may have had last year is now obsorbed by "mission requirements". As the others have stated, they are working hard and spending what time they have either studying, cleaning, polishing, or...

    VMI Packing List

Any electrical and computer engineering students will not be able to use the laptops recommended by VMI. They don't have enough power to run the software that they will be required to have. You can discuss with computer stores the fact that the computer will be required to run CAD programs such...

Summer Transition Program (STP) @ VMI

DS did STP with great impact. He took Calculus and was able to focus on that course and do exceedingly well and reduce the credit hour load during the first semester.

    Grades

Has he completed his AS300 year, or is he going to start his AS300 year this fall? If he has already completed his AS300 year, then he's in a much better situation as his Field Training is already completed. If he hasn't attended his Field Training yet, he will be informed that he has lost his...
