Has anyone had a waiver request initiated in March or April in past cycles?

I understand that plenty of waivers are granted after March 1st, but would love to hear from anyone that’s had an initial waiver request come in after March 1st (especially if you had no LOA and were not a recruited athlete). Thank you!

Yes! Two years ago, my DS started waiver process for usna mid March. I think it took 3 weeks for a decision, he already had everything in the ami. I understand how hard it is to wait and not get caught up in the what ifs. Keep reminding yourself to trust the process (this works for plebe summer too). It seems like they ramp up the waiver review process Mar-May. Keep plan B in progress. I’m pulling for you!

Thank you for your question. My son is in the same boat. He's already got his plan B locked up. Just waiting to hear from USNA one way or another.

This is so encouraging to hear, thank you for sharing! And congrats to your son!

My kid got DQed (again) after his NROTC scholarship award DoDMERB review from a single comment in his pediatrician's file, even though he was already wavered at the Academy for something else. That DQ then applied to both his NROTC scholarship and the Academy.

In the beginning of April.

While still CPR.

Two weeks from the April 15 great purge.

I had to scramble to get him into the cardiologist practice I use, get a full work-up with an EKG and ECG, and a monitor for 24 hours. Then get results rushed from the monitor company, a full write up clearing him from the cardiologist, and submitted back in.

He sent it all in very close to the 4/15 purge. He got waitlisted at the purge. And his appointment early May, first off the forum from the waitlist.

TL/DR? Kid got a waiver review initiated in April and approved a few weeks later.

My DS is currently a plebe. He did not have an LOA but was a recruited athlete. He was DQ'd in January and his DoDMERB said "Under Waiver Review" for a very long time. Finally in April they requested AMI. We got the paperwork we needed from two different specialist uploaded by mid April. Just prior to uploading the documents he was placed on the waitlist. The waiver was granted late April and he remained on the waitlist. May 9th his portal changed to "Fully Qualified Offer" and he is excited to have just received his first choice of major, which will be "Weapons, Robotics, and Control Engineering"

Wonderful story of hope and encouragement today!! Thank you so much for sharing!! So happy for your DS!!

My son did last year and received a waiver. Mid June he got TWE
Oh my gosh that must have been so disappointing! I’m so sorry! I guess it’s a good word of caution that a granted waiver can still = a twe. I hope he loves where he is now!
