Anyone else waiting for 3 months for a waiver - USCGA

She got an email from the USCGA medical department stating her waiver was granted along with the attached waiver approval letter signed by the superintendent and her DODMERB site the same day said waiver granted.
Thank you. I was wondering how it goes!

Congratulations!!! How long had she been waiting for the waiver?

My DD got her USCGA waiver this week without filling out any forms.
I forgot to ask, what day of the week it came. We heard a rumor (and it can totally be that) waivers come in small batches at the end of the week similar to appointments.

She got it last Thursday by email but the attached letter from
The superintendent was dated 2 weeks prior. His electronic signature date was 2 days prior to my DD getting the email on Thursday.

So the letter date was dated 2 weeks prior to the email to my daughter who got it last Thursday.

I heard that there are 15 alerts going out
This week and the backlog is about 75 waivers as we just came back from AEP yesterday at the USCGA and a parent was told that when she asked.

OK great. Thank you so much. When we were at AEP Feb 22/23 we were told there was 80, and they process in groups of 4-6 so that makes sense! Last we knew, our DD was in med review with CMO (we asked very specific questions at the time).

Hopefully she will be one of the 15 who hear this week!

How did you find out your DD was in med review? Whenever our DD has reached out for info, “specifically where her waiver is in the cue”, she gets the standard “sit tight” response. Zero info.

My DS has been "under waiver review" in his DoDMERB acct for USCGA since 11/1. Since no additional AMI has been requested, we are taking that as a bad sign. (Was deferred from EA to RA and still waiting). USMMA requested AMI and DS was granted the waiver the day after receiving the information. I think the length of process really depends on the condition and how competitive the candidate.

During our visit last summer to USCGA, I asked about medical waivers. They said they do not look at the medical status until after they are appointed.

I think you may have misunderstood your contact a little. You cannot have an appointment until you have passed the physical fitness test, academic, and medical portions. I believe what you probably wanted to indicate was that none of the academies ask for a waiver unless they see the applicant as appointable (meaning they consider the applicant to be meeting ALL other requirements).

AND, I have watched applicants here get a waiver, and still not get an appointment for that year. They may have been offered prep school instead. It is not an appointment until the candidate meets ALL standards, and the Board actually pulls their file and offers an appointment. It may have been a "conditional appointment", I have seen posters get those and IF they get the waiver, the "conditional" goes away and they are offered a slot in that year's class.

Congrats on the USMMA waiver! DS has been waiting on USMMA.

Has your DS heard anything about his waiver?
