Veteran Educational Benefits Under Discussion

Not veterans Educational Benefits, this is about Tuition Assistance (TA) funds which are controlled by the services as opposed to Veterans Benefits which are doled out by the VA.
K Thanks.

I think Mods can dump this thread without objection from me.

It is still an interesting topic. I've read a lot of angry redditers regarding the loss of credential money. And who knows what the TA change might be and those destroy recruiting any more than it already is.

This HM1 stationed at Pax River just finished a PhD in Research Psychology. Surely he used tuition assistance in that journey. There's not an unlimited tap to draw from however. There's a limit on credits per year. Plus, and I don't have a source, but I'd bet the majority of military members don't and have never used TA. Cutting money from a people program like this seems ludicrous with minimal savings and a huge downside in bad publicity.

Side note: My first thought on Petty Officer Dotson was he must have been on shore duty his entire career and when did he have time to do his military job. But, he's earned three warfare devices and has what sounds like a busy day at work. A few years ago we had a submarine HMCM IDC who had a PhD in a forensic science of some sort. He worked at AFIP, the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology as an actual forensic scientist.
