Tell me what this means! VP nom after a turn down in February?!

DS had a congressional and senate nom to West Point. He was turned down by WP via an official letter in his portal in mid February. That was the end of that dream. He accepted 4 year AROTC scholarship to the University of Illinois engineering program. He was finally out of limbo!

He had a moc nom for USAFA. In mid March he received a Falcon Scholarship from USAFA. It took him about a week to get his head around that idea and then he accepted it and signed up for NWP. He has been super exited and I was happy because once again he was out of limbo.

Today he just randomly logged into his West Point portal. He hasn't done that in weeks. He found a VPRE3 nomination for West Point. 😳 Someone tell me what this means?!!!!

Still waiting on Navy with a moc nom and at this point I am convinced anything can happen.

I think I'm going to throw up from this roller coaster ride!
Unbelievable! I can't wait to see where this goes! 🤞

Why not have DS reach out to WP admissions or his RC and inquire as to his status?

I get to tell my favorite story again. I think it was last year, an applicant was 3q but got a rejection in Feb. Total stone cold, try again next year rejection. He had won a 4 year AROTC scholarship so for a month he made plans to go somewhere else. Then, I think in mid April, all of the sudden he gets notified to check his portal. There he found a appointment to USMA for the class of 2027. He's currently completing his plebe year. The last I heard, he still has no clue how any of this worked. Neither did his FFR, nor his regional admissions commander. I think something similar is happening here.

Wow, what an emotional rollercoaster! I recall he was told his was a very competitive district and thus the TWE even with 2 noms. It seems to me that USMA still kept him in mind if after all this time if the VP mom showed up, and imagine he is very much still in the running. I’m not sure why the TWE though, and not just left him pending. It seems to me though, that getting the VP nom is a way for them to charge a potential appointment that way if his other nom spots are all used for other candidates. I’m still unclear as to whether they do this to offer an appointment, and it works the same as other noms? My DS got his VP nom and then appointment about a week later. Holy cow though! Would it change things for your DS? I don’t know about what happens with the Falcon scholarship and how binding it is, but if it’s like other appointments and if it can be accepted and then later given up. But if so, your DS still has time for a couple of weeks to decide…
I was/am in a similar boat. I received a nomination from both my senator and rep. And I received a QNS February 23rd. However I put in a new SAT and I was told I would be notified if my status changes.

This is fascinating to me! Our son was medically dq’d, it took about a month and we got word USMA requested a medical waiver, about 3 weeks later his waiver was granted and he received the NWL letter the next day. And now we sit waiting…….haven’t heard anything else. The roller coaster is so real and your journey definitely has some extra loops! I can’t wait to see how this all plays out. I’d just like USMA to let our son know one way or the other soon.
Fascinating is a good word. My DD received a call from her Field Rep officer in February advising her that she wasn't getting an appointment and she should move on to plan B. It's been over two months , radio silence , no TWE, no official rejection letter , total silence. Plan B is looking like a University of Florida. Is there still a chance ?

Apparently with WP there is always still a chance. Haha! My DS has move moved to plan B, then C, and now has a possibility to return to plan A. Who knows at this point!

My DS receive his TWE email the last hour of the last day! He had already accepted an ROTC scholarship and geared up for that. About a week later he received a two sentance email that he was receiving a AOG prep scholarship, respond quickly. He did a quick search on the AOG prep offer and accepted. One year later he was a WP plebe. This crazy ride was a great learning experience and prepared him well for WP.

I think we are all coming to terms that maybe is not meant to be !!! She's gradually moved on to plan B ( University of Florida ) which is not a bad option. We shall see what happens between now and May 1st.

Update on our VP nomination saga: an ALO reached out to WP for DS today. They confirmed that they did give him the VP nom, but because of the very competitive class they weren't able to find a spot for him this year.

He is thankful for the finality and will happily move on to his Falcon Foundation Prep scholarship at USAFA.

I am thankful to have him home all summer. Then back again after NWP for Spring semester before he heads to USAFA for the class of '29, Lord willing.

I will still be cheering all of you on!!!

Sorry to hear the VP NOM to WP didn’t turn into an Appointment. The FFS is a great opportunity and worth celebrating. Congratulations!

It sure seems strange that WP would offer a rare VP NOM so late in the game to someone they don’t Appoint.
Class building mystery number 1,000,001…..
