Hey all just thought I'd post this as I remember being very disappointed 4 years ago at the end of high school after being rejected from USMA. If you were rejected from USMA out of high school do not worry. Through the mentorship of a friend I re-applied and ended up being accepted in the fall of my freshman year but ultimately turned it down as I loved the school I ended up at and the ROTC program. I stuck with ROTC for all 4 years and just commissioned today. I was crushed when I didn't get in, but looking back although USMA has many perks that ROTC does not have, I made the right decision. There is no one size fits all answer regarding if USMA or ROTC is the better path, but instead it is something you have to decide on your own. If you are feeling disheartened after your rejection, don't. There are more chances to get into USMA and many different paths that all lead to the same place. Keep your head up and keep driving on whatever direction you take.

Excellent post.
My son is a WP grad and he married a fellow Lt who became an officer via ROTC. Both have good things to say about their route to becoming an army officer.

We need more of these kind of posts from the wide variety of folks who do not get it, get in after reapplying, etc. It really is not the end of the world although it feels like it at the time. Congratulations, Lt.
