United States Merchant Marine Academy ALUMNI We are profoundly saddened by the news that one of our graduates was killed in Afghanistan on November 25th. 1LT Will Donnelly, USMC, Class of 2008, was shot while on patrol. He was married to another Kings Pointer (Linsey Becker Donnelly ’08) and is the brother of Melissa Donnelly Weed ’07. Our condolences go out to the family.

That is indeed sad news. My family's prayers go out to his family and friends. Semper Fi, Lt.

In deepest sympathy...

So very sorry for this loss and so very grateful for his service to our country. Your family is in our prayers. V/r, Mom of current KP mid and mom to his brother, a Navy Corpsman proudly serving with MARSOC and headed to Afghanistan very soon. Semper fidelis.

My thoughts and prayers are with Lt Donnelly's family, extended family and friends.

Respectful prayers and condolences to his widow, gold star mother, family, friends, and marines.

Thank you for sharing such sad news. I truly appreciate knowing about the community of KPers and where they are in the world. I pray for the family and most all thank them for their service.

As parents of a 2015 KP appointee and future Marine, our deepest sympathy to 1LT Will, his proud family and fellow Marines. Our prayers will always be with those who choose to serve in sacrifice to our country.

If someone has Will's wife and parents address and feels it is OK to share it, please PM me. I would love to send a card or make a donation in his memory.

Our thoughts an prayers are for this young man and his family and friends.

My entire heart goes out to Will's family, friends & the extended KP family. There aren't enough words to express this great loss. I've been two days in trying to work up just these unworthy few. :'(

As jamzmom said, words aren't adequate to express the sorrow. Our hearts go out to his wife, family and the entire KP community.

At Heaven's Gate, St. Peter he will tell,
Another Marine reporting Sir,
I've served my time in Hell.

God Bless this young man and his family. As an old Marine, it gives me great heartache to read that one of our's is no longer with us. Semper Fi.

On behalf of the entire alumni family we offer our prayers and our support for the Donnelly family - including his wife Linsey (Becker) '08, his parents William & Vicki, his sister Melissa Donnelly Weed '07 and her husband Colin Weed '07.

I never have the words ...... because, for me, these polite necessities, in circmumstances like this, fall so very short.

Even though I am just an outsider and not really part of the KP thing, sometimes, because of my son's choices, I do feel like part of the family. A very special family indeed.

It appears our hero did not fall alone on the battlefield. As a family, let's keep a good thought and much prayers for the loved ones left behind by both these young men. Brothers in arms. Defenders of our precious freedom.
