OH-12 checking in! Just received my appointment dated March 4th. This was my second time applying for USNA.

Congrats. Can you share more? Maybe why you think you got it this time but not last year? And did you do NROTC or not?

Congratulations! When you say you just got it, do you mean it was dated March 4th and you received it within past day?

The appointment letter was stamped March 4th, and I received it at my college address on the 19th (it may have been held for a number of days due to the fact that last week was Spring Break and no mail is delivered during breaks).

I have a few ideas as to why I received an appointment this year but not last year. First, last year I applied with an ACT score of 26. I retook it two more times and it brought my superscore to a 28. I had a pretty decent amount of leadership and service during high school but I continued that during my first year here at college as well. I was accepted into a Scholars program, joined my Resident Hall Council, spent Spring Break in New Jersey for a service trip, and I was even chosen as a Resident Advisor ("Head of Floor") for the next academic year. My CFA scores also improved. Lastly, last year I received a nomination from my Senator and this year I received in from my Congressman (less people to compete against).

Overall, I truly don't know what the exact factor was. I spoke with an admission counselor last year and was told that I had a very strong application aside from my ACT scores (this might have been proven false with my first semester college GPA which was a 4.0).

Also I did not do any branch of ROTC. I did not receive an NROTC scholarship last year and chose not to participate off-scholarship.

What was your class load for 1st semester of college? What were your math and English ACT scores if you don't mind sharing?

A Huge Congrats too!!!!!!

2017KNR Congratulations! So excited for you. I remember you posting about college courses to take etc. and since my DD is in college and reapplied I had my fingers crossed for you too. Best wishes.

Congratulations. I know how hard it is to apply a second time.:beer1:

My first semester course load was actually not what you might expect. I took my freshman Writing course, Microeconomics, Psychology, Biology, and then the required Freshman Survey class and Scholars Seminar - although I did walk in with 23 credit hours from AP Government, Calculus, Physics, and Chemistry (which may have justified my course load a little).

My highest ACT Math score was 31 and English was a 25 or 26.
