Class of 2017 Mailbox Stalkers Club

I haven't gotten the second BFE yet either. But the Android mobile app is in a message at the top of the AFA forum homepage!

So I know this is a very strange time of year for this to happen, but I just received a Letter of Assurance (for the class of 2017) pending receipt of a nomination!

2nd BFE arrived priority mail. 2 days after I accepted.
I accepted last Monday and it arrived Wednesday.

Are you referring to the 'Instructions to Appointees' packet?

If you are, I got that a few days after accepting as well.

Has anyone received the second BFE?

Sent using the Service Academy Forums® mobile app.

The "Instructions to Appointees" packet is sent immediately to appointees with an "unconditional" offer. If your offer is "conditional" (USAFA is waiting for medical clearance, an additional fitness test, or a final college transcript), the packet will come later. The reason is that the trigger to send the packet is the generation of travel orders.

If you have not received that packet then check your appointment letter. The reason is probably the "condition" for a clear appointment hasn't been met as of yet.

Calling all Preppies

I am still out here hoping, praying and crossing fingers and toes for the Preppies who are still waiting to hear about appointments. Some one said it could be early May before you found out.

Good Luck to you all !!!!!!!!

Please be sure to let us know...

Hello everyone! Unfortunately, like so many others out there, I got a TWE from the USAFA.

However, today I heard I had received a Falcon Foundation Scholarship. Anyone else hear from the foundation? Just curious.

Right now I'm trying to weigh that with a 3 Year Type 2 AFROTC scholarship, and it's an incredibly difficult choice.

Best of luck to all prep academy students waiting on the BFE!

DerFalke, I was in a very similar position to you last year. It really just comes down to how badly you want USAFA...feel free to pm me if you have any questions about my experiences with the Falcon Foundation.

I'm "graduating" the service academy program Tuesday. Good luck in your decision!

Some confusion

Quick question folks. Insider posted something before indicating that travel orders are only sent out after all conditions of a conditional offer of appointment have been met, and that that is the trigger for them to send out the second BFE. My letter of appointment said that it was conditional on my college grades this semester, but my portal updated with my travel orders and PO Box number just a couple of days later. So should I be expecting that second big package of stuff?

DD received several calls on Friday from USAFA admissions and ALO notifying her of the Falcon Foundation Scholarship award. She is going to pass on the opportunity, she is hung up on the "academic 5 year plan". She received an Army ROTC scholarship to attend Boston College and has accepted that option.

I expect she made the wise choice as she still graduates with a commission. I expect freshman year will be the toughest academically. Good luck to her. :thumb:

Boston College is a beautiful place and Boston is a great college town!! Enjoy, but the skiing isn't nearly as good:redface:

Well first off congratulations on both of your DD's achievements, they're very impressive.

And I'm actually surprised to hear from someone else on the SA forums who heard from the FF this year, apparently only 60 scholarships were awarded. (budget cuts, possibly?) When you consider how small that number is, and how many of the awarded are on the SA forums, it really can't be much.

I've actually decided to accept the FF scholarship, and attend Northwestern Prep School next year. An academy experience is something I'd quite like to have.

Best of luck to your DD at Boston College! :thumb:

That's about the same number of FF scholarships that were awarded last year. I believe the reduction is due to the smaller class sizes the last few years.

My daughter was in your place last year and is now getting ready to enter USAFA in less than two months. She loved her time at NWP! Good luck:)

You're going to love your time at NWP. The things you do there will be hard, but all for a reason.

PS: I'll sell you my vocab cards for $1000 :shake:
