Orthodontics

Hi Mr. MUllen,
I have read many good reports about you...I have aquestion. My braces are going to be removed tomorrow, and the orthodontist wants to place a retainer on my lower teeth OR give me one to wear at bedtime. Is there any advice on which one to chose, ie are there any restrictions at USCGA or USNA? (still undecided)
Thank you, sir!

Send Mr Mullen an email.. he can not access the forum from DODMERB computers.... cut and paste you post and send it to him along with your last for of you ssn.

If you have any questions regarding DoDMERB about policies, procedures, your specific case (I will have to verify who you are), or anything else, I am the DoDMERB official to provide you a response. I'm always available and in most cases, will respond immediately, but will respond within 24 hours on all cases.

My email address is ALWAYS open. I'm the DoDMERB Bureaucrat Buster. Give me a chance:) Larry.Mullen@dodmerb.tma.osd.mil

Now that I've been at this for a while, I "usually" log in late at night and several times throughout the weekend. The issue is the fact that this is not an "official" site and the USAF maintains a very high level of internet security. So, I can't access the site from work---I must log in from home.

Thx in advance for your understanding, patience., and the opportunity to assist you

mjcjac - Well, it's 11:45 PM MDT. It's 4 hours since your post and I did NOT receive an email and only several hours away from the time you need to make your decision, so I guess you figured out what your choice is going to be for TOMORROW:) Either choice will be acceptable by the Service Academies, but the choice is between you and your dentist:thumb:

Thanks

I appreciate the promt response. I did send you an email last night, hopefully you received that. I am getting with the orthodontist at 3:15 pm EST...still time to decide:rolleyes:
Appreciate the rapid response!

Hope he's around for the USAFA Class of 2019

My son's waiver for chronic urticaria was denied, but that doesn't diminish the fact that Mr. Mullen did everything he could to facilitate a waiver.

I just hope Mr. Mullen is around in 6 years when my 11 year old applies to the Air Force Academy!

Mr. Mullen is awesome! I really appreciate all the time and effort you do for others!:smile::smile::smile::smile::thumb::thumb:

BZ !!

Many thanks for making this information available.
Communication and access like this above and beyond most of my experiences over a 21 year naval career.
Nice effort folks.
Salute

Kudos for mr. Mullen!!

My sincerest thanks, Mr. Mullen! We are forever one of your biggest fans!! :shake: You were the key to getting my son's information to the appropriate personnel in charge of medical waivers. You promptly took charge of the situation and gave us hope that a resolution was a possibility.

I am thrilled to say my son was granted a waiver and received his appointment to USMA last week!:smile:

You are indeed a great man who possesses the sincere desire, knowledge and ability required to assist all of us out here who feel so helpless at times with this process.

THANK YOU for all you have done for our family and for all you do! DoDMERB is lucky to have you! AREN'T WE ALL???:biggrin::biggrin:

P.S. Your sense of humor in stressful times was uplifting and your humility inspirational!!:thumb::thumb::cool:

Well thank you:) I certainly give it the good old college try. Like KP2001, Super Moderator inferred in his reply to the waiver denial thread, there's not always a favorable outcome, but we do want to ensure that "we leave no applicant behind." We want a fair and timely review for all applicants:thumb:

A Lieutenant Colonel told me that Larry Mullen is the man. I tend to disagree, because Mr. Mullen is a SUPER Man.

Mr. Mullen>Chuck Norris

For Sure.:biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:

PM, I would be happy to sign the letter also. We are still waiting to see if my son gets his waiver but Mr Mullen has been very helpful in the entire process. This is a great forum and I wish to thank all who contribute so much to these kids who are like cats on a hot tin roof waiting for info.

My son is one of the candidates that was ~unsuccessful with the waiver process but, Mr. Mullen was invaluable and made the blow understandable. It was out of his (and ours, color vision for the USNA) control but, he still tried. :thumb:

I guess sometimes things happen for a reason because....
the good news is...today, while going through my son's Appointment USMAPS package, there is a paragraph in there talking about taking your DoDMERB physical and if you hadn't at this point, immediately contact Mr. Larry Mullen at Larry.Mullen@dodmerb.tma.osd.mil to set up your appointment asap. lol

I wonder what the life span is of a piece of paper on Mr. Mullen's desk lol

Maximus - Thx. Most of you know that I do NOT have a phone #. I'll call you guys, but I won't accept calls otherwsie I'd never get any sleep. But interesting about the papaer too. I'm 60% accomplished of having a paper-free office. This weekend, I hope to be/stay 100%. I can't keep up with the paper, but can keep up electronically..."Again, Leave No applicant Behind:thumb:" (The orginator of our motto is the Director of Operations..TW)

Another new member to the Mr. Mullen Fan club!!

A big thank you to Mr. Mullen for all his help from the Pryor Family!! I am sure we drove him crazy with our constant worrying and emails while we waited for Brendan's asthma waiver to be approved. I realize everyone's situation is different but don't give up, Brendan received his waiver with no further testing just a letter from us explaining the misdiagnosis and a letter from his doctor as well and 3 weeks later Waiver Approved!!! I know it helped me to hear success stories that is why I wanted to let everyone know waivers are granted, don't give up and follow Mr. Mullens advice. A big thank you to the wonderful folks at Dodmerb. :thumb:

I agree mullen is the greatest, i am so glad that i found these forums and somone from the inside willing to help someone from the out, out of his own free will.
