I am going out for a visit (Candidate's Weekend?) at the end of March. I was curious about what exactly that weekend is, what I should expect, etc. Anyone have any insights they are willing to offer?

You'll show up Thursday night, get assigned a Plebe, and just settle in for the night as the Mids still have study period. Friday morning, you'll either go to formation or whatever your Plebe has prior to morning meal (some might be varsity athletes and may pass you onto someone else for a bit until they get back). After morning meal, you'll go to classes with your Plebe until Noon Meal Formation. There, you'll assemble with the other drags and observe formation until your Plebe comes back to get you to throw down on some Buff Chicks if you're lucky. Usually there is some sort of brief for drags in Rickover around 1240 so your Plebe will take you there and leave you until you're done. After your brief, you'll finish out the day with afternoon classes then head to sports period if your Plebe is in a sport. If not, I remember playing some Plebe vs Youngster football with some drags sprinkled in. End the day with some food at either Kings Court (just opened my Firstie year and it had awesome food), Drydock, or ordering out (pizza, Nanos, Jimmy Johns, etc.). At the end of March, rules have become a little more relaxed so you may be able to watch some movies with your Plebe. Saturday morning, not sure anymore since they did away with Saturday morning training, then early afternoon you'll be on your merry way.

Professional tip: wear something that shows you want to be there (a business suit is not necessary). Yes, the Mids aren't the ones that decide whether or not you get in, but they'll remember if you were the drag that wore flip flop, ripped jeans, and a Batman t-shirt during your visit. Ask questions, even the upper classes will be glad to answer your questions as your Plebe might not have all the answers (i.e. a specific major, sport, or club you're interested in). March is a beautiful time to visit the yard as the weather will be usually nice, Mids are coming off Spring Break, and just a little more than a month to Herndon and graduation.

DS was just there for CVW. They actually were dismissed 9 am Sat, not early afternoon. Just FYI.

Jeez, it looks like you can even eat that salad they put around the serving bins for decoration......

What they don't tell your parents in advance is that there are all day presentations and discussion panels they absolutely should attend.
Bring a little treat for your host as mentioned on another thread and have a great time!

The no-SMT thing is NOT true. It is entirely up to company training.
