I was in your boat this time last year. I remember seeing all the appointments posted and feeling as if his plans A and B would be his future. I became obsessed with this forum. Happy for those names I recognized from posting receiving appointments, but couldn't help but worry. My DS was offered a slot at the prep, and we couldn't be happier. Now, one year later, I find myself stalking yet again, although I know he will not know if he receives an appointment until May or possibly later. Good luck to all those still waiting!!! Remember, with no TWE you're still in the running!!!

As to part one of your question, the major updates to your portal appear to occur as part of overnight update of admissions records. Typically, this seems to be in the early hours of the morning Mountain Time. Something like 1:30 to 5:30am. Also note, that at least for appointments it appears that you should be able to rely upon receiving an email to alert you of a portal update regarding your application. I have no information as to appointees processed each day. If you look at the dates in list above you will see that there was a large batch last week. Prior to that it was more sporadic. Good luck.

Glad to see some people from NJ getting appointments. I'm getting so anxious just waiting. I hope they don't leave me hanging on until mid-April. I feel like if they were going to deny me they would have already made that decision and notified me, so I hope the fact that they are making me wait is a good, not a bad, thing. Any thoughts on this philosophy???

If you're still a candidate, you're still in the race. In this case no news IS good news even though the wait is unbearable. Good luck! We are waiting too.

My son is in your boat, we are even going Thursday night to nomination celebration hosted by my sons local nominating congressman ( he also got a senatorial nomination) it would be great if we got the nod, congrats son you got a appointment , but again I have only seen one nj-05, one nj-07 & one other out of 104 posts, I know of 3 others who are in the civil air patrol (cadet colonels) who also got appointments. My emotions go from feeling like I'm about to get capital punishment or have a deep loss to hopeful elation, yet restrained. The max appointments go out in March & early April , I wish we really could celebrate with the congressman , but I feel like the appointment is behajnd door #1, door#2 or door #3, pick one. We have really not vacationed, done much since about 1/15/2016 we sit & watch & wait & pray that if its meant to be it is, it's like time has stood still for too long, re guards

If you are turned down for appointment does your status change? My status still says candidate. Does this mean I'm still being considered for an appointment? Are you notified if you have been taken out of the "consideration" pool?
 
Hey guys I just talked to my ALO today and she reported to me that at the moment the Air Force Academy is on spring break and that although admissions is still working we should not expect to here anything tell next week around April 1st. My guess is that last Wednesday all of the nomination slates where given out in a "tidal wave" fashion and those of us who are still waiting are in the national pool and as far as I know the national pool gives out roughly half the appointments. Again that is all my guess from the information I have gathered. Additionally as far as I know if you are still a "candidate" you are still considered.

If you are turned down then your status page will change. I don't remember what it changes to but if it shows you as a candidate then you are still being considered.

Is it correct that you get the email to check the portal when the status change is a denial? Others have mentioned getting the email when they were offered appointment. I would think email comes either way?
