New PT uniforms?

Well it seems that the cadre is starting to lick their lips for BCT.

Take heed to everything Raimius, Hornet and others are saying, b/c they are the ones that will be now looking for the rule breakers. Last yr on CC it became a huge issue, b/c appointees started talking smack and how they were going to work the system. Cadets over there told them they were taking names and appointees dared them to do it. Not a wise decision!

Not to frighten any of you, but these 2 forums can come back and bite you very quickly. They will have faces to put with names and as much as you think you have camraderie with them, they already can see certain areas that they might want to break you on. And just like the operational world, you can be my bud off duty, but on I own your a**. Don't confuse the two. Also don't start freaking out about this, keep telling yourself no cadet has died from this and I too will be fine. It really is about bonding and learning the AF way. However, if you believe you are better than everybody else, it could be a little more intense. The quicker you get with the program, the better off you will be!

Only a few yrs ago, one cadet was made famous from his MySpace page and it was a big hit on youtube of the cadre berating him on the bus. If you watch it, it takes him a few seconds for him to connect the dots on why him. Then there it is, the realization it was his my space page comments!

Not saying don't talk openly and question, just remember these cadets walked before you...just like parents they know all of the little tricks b/c they too tried them with no success.

As far as the PT gear...it is really great. Realize that only recently did the AF start an official PT gear. It is a very dark blue,(way deeper than the service blues and closer to black) the silver you see is reflective and more like the color of lead. The T shirts also have the reflective design. The weight of the shirt is great for physical activity because of how it wicks away the sweat. The shorts also wick really will too, so you will feel comfortable in it no matter the weather.

You're right Pima, I'm probably on top of their list, already...
Well, if you guys really need to- I'm going for the first orientation.
IF I make the dinner, and Hornetguy attends, then seek him to point me out. lol

Rest assured, if a basic cadet or four degree comes to my attention, it is because of their actions. I basically ignore small smacktalk and ignorant questions online...now if you are directly insulting people...

I have a four dig in my element from CC. I didn't treat her any different because of that. IMO, treating basics/four digs differently due to CC/SAF posts runs a very risky line that has favoritism on one side and unfair negative treatment on the other.
Now, once Recognition is over, you won't be "just another cadet," etc.

For PT gear, USAFA doesn't go with the rest of the AF. Personally, I like the AF PC shirt and our shorts, but alas, I don't make those decisions.

ahh... too many people have Raimus's avatar now. I keep thinking it is him posting when it really isn't.

I admire you for being like that, Raimus. I feel like if a cadre picks on one of us little '13s just for being different, then it just becomes bullying. I can't see how parents can condone such behavior.

By the way, nice picture!:thumb:

On I-Day, They're Not Kids Anymore

... I can't see how parents can condone such behavior.

Not a parent's place to approve/disapprove. These military members would solve this, through the chain of command, if it were to occur.

Everyone gets singled out/ "picked on" during Basic and 4-degree year. It's just the way the system works.

I hope bombtrack is saying this tongue and cheek, and not seriously, because BCT is a party compared to SERE

Flashback is right it is just how the system works. The military has become more politically correct, but there still is the tradition of BCT. Old craniums call new Pilots and WSOs, SNAPS and SNAWS. It stands for Sensitive New Age Pilots or Wsos.

Not saying that there is anything wrong, just stating that in the operational world they expect officers not to be coddled and those that complain about being berated in an open forum or by a higher ranking officer, such as the briefing room or FCC, will be in for a very harsh awakening. There is one thing of disagreeing another about complaining. I recall a flight commander who had a sign on his door it said
NO WHINERS ALLOWED in very big letters...underneath in smaller letters it stated if you have to ask if you are one than the answer is YES!

The cadets are very close, and all you need to do is remember when they are in your face, only a few yrs earlier that same person had someone else in their face and they survived it!

The quicker you get with how the program works, the faster your life will become easier. It all has to do with breaking you down and rebuilding you in a leadership AF model.

Biggest lessons to learn:
1. RHIP = RANK HAS ITS PRIVILEDGES
2. Shoulder toss = Put your hand and cover your shoulder boards the other person does the same, lift your hand to show your rank...whoever has the highest rank WINS!

Keep that in your mind and you will be just fine!

That's the same thing my teacher (NA grad) said. I'll get used to it lol. I'm glad there is a forum to learn this from.

I'm an equal opportunity hater!
If you get corrected, it's because you did something wrong/stupid...and that happens a lot during BCT because all the basics are scared/dumb/not with the program. There are a lot of new rules, and not a lot of time to learn them. So, the cadre use the expedient method for getting a basic's attention (namely getting in their faces and using their command voice).

...and putting basics under some mental stress is actually a healthy part of Basic. Some stress now is better than lots of blood later.

Same here! I've learned a LOT from these forums. So much better than being in the dark about everything.

Regarding the music issue in general...

If you come in and all you want to do is get around the 4-degree rules, such as not listening to music, you will most likely have little difficulty doing so...but is that the goal already?

sorry to take so long to respond. no i didn't ask it to try and break the rules. I wanted to know if I could use it or not next year and NOT break rules by doing so. I want to get by next year and not get beat for stupid stuff like listening to unauthorized music sources. I was only curious because for many people, myself included, music helps them study.

Ok Raimius, I'm sure there will no longer be any confusion. Your new avie is uh, very unique.
