Investigation shows the real reason the Army denied a soldier the Medal of Honor

This is a pretty interesting look behind the curtains of how the MoH is awarded. I think that what makes this worth a look is not that the MoH was denied despite the recommendations of virtually every Army and Marine GO in the chain of command - but that it was downgraded to the Silver Star rather than a DSC . The comments about the expectations of an NCO vs what would be expected of a lower ranking Soldier seems pretty off base to me IMHO.

Thanks for sharing. According to the logic on why the Sgt. wasn't awarded it...rank somehow automatically equates to leadership and some of their' "reasons" are lame at best. If I made this kind of argument in my organizations leadership meeting, I'd get tossed. Optics on this are really bad.

Pretty outrageous but hardly a new phenomenon. There are innumerable stories where enlisted people got one award while officers involved in the same incident got a higher one, what a farce.
