AFROTC--2016 EADs

Just curious, but isn't it too late now to ask for an ED? Don't you have to be accepted by an approved Grad school at this point for ED, and get approval from HQ MPC? You are what 30 days away at tops from commissioning? They now have you in their ADAF pipeline from a report/class date perspective.

I would talk to your CoC about getting a deferment for ED, as in yesterday. Otherwise, I would find a job to survive for 6 months especially if you took student loans for college. That career starter loan impo should not be used as a way to pay bills while you wait to go ADAF.
~ DS reported Sept 30 to his 1st base. but it took time to get his paycheck in order. If memory serves me right it was @ 1 month, but meanwhile he had to pay on his own dime to get to the base, buy and set up his 1st place (food, linens, pots/pans, cable, etc). In essence it was a couple of thousand outlaid from his own pocket.

Just food for thought when you think about how you use that starter loan
I said that I'm going for Intel this fall, not that i've been classified as intel. I'm doing 5 years with my major so I don't get to turn in my form 53 until a few months from now. I'm just trying to plan for the future. I'll take the GRE this summer and probably apply for grad school at my current university just in case I'll have a later EAD for whatever AFSC I get.

Also, Ive heard that these immediate EADs don't apply to Ops AFSC's b/c those pipelines are limited by training base capacity and they can only hold so many. This is what makes me wonder how long it the typical wait time is for an Intel person.

It seems like information is flying around but nothing is concrete - haha in essence, welcome to the military, right? :)

My EAD is 30 Sep 16, but the latest I've been told is that it will end up being sooner than 30 Sep, not later. Those at our Det who got EADs in 2017 have been told not to expect them getting moved up. I've had some contact from my new squadron, but they don't know any more than I do about when I'm arriving.

Most of my det's dates got moved up to June-early July timeframe (excluding rated and Intel). Lots of change in the past two weeks.

There are so many slotted for May 2017 that I don't see how they can't move alot of us up....

I guess the pipeline is backed up or something. The disparity in dates is pretty crazy... mine is next week! You'd think since they cut our class so much already, they'd be able to put everyone on AD at least in FY16.

The FB Intel page has been pretty dry so I'm guessing all the selectees still have that same EAD placeholder for now.

That's what I'm thinking too. I asked on there but some folks aren't on there with us so I thought maybe they might be on here...suspense is killing me dude lol

Some of my friends who are going cyber were May 2017 until this week when theirs were updated to late August 2016. As you know EADs are updated monthly so who knows which ones will change or not lol

No...if you're near a base with a unit of your AFSC you could reach out and ask to come in and check the sq out and perhaps do 'casual Lt' stuff..I was able to do this and the CC was trying to get me on orders (crrent EAD next apr) but AFPC denied the req due to funding for obvious reasons (why EAD us now if the intel/rated/younameit pipeline is full- wasteful spending). It's worth a shot for you and will give you great exposure. However I'm not sure- afsc wise- the opportunities at hand... Nevertheless, won't know until you ask.

Yeah my RPA friend got pushed back too. Kinda funny since the word is that the Air Force is in desperate need of RPA pilots....

It's all about the pipeline. Kinda looking bad for me next year...Ideally I wanted to go ASAP after commissioning :/
