The Citadel has received approval to begin a new Bachelors Degree program in Nursing, cadets entering in the fall of 2017 will be able to apply for the program but initially enrollment will be limited to 32 until full accreditation is received.

Recently read about this in a local publication. The plan is to add students from the corps of cadets to the nursing program beginning in the Fall of 2017. They have already accepted and enrolled civilian students who will begin the nursing the program first--this Spring. Initially, the cadet enrollment may be limited, however, as the program evolves and faculty grows, they will expand offerings for those in the corps of cadets. The article mentions the citadel wants to eventually enroll 96 cadet and civilian students in the program.
This will be a good thing for the local hospitals because of high-demand for nurses. It will also benefit the day military students enrolled in ROTC as well, because nurses are in high demand in all of the service branches.

program will be limited to 16 slots per year until full accreditation is received after the first class graduates. One other big advantage is that there are ROTC scholarships just for nurses thus it increases both commissioning and financial aid opportunities. Ah, VMI grad in chucktown, now that must feel odd.

Don't count on it--Chuck town is pretty welcoming to everyone, including service academy grads, Texas A&M grads, and even Norwich grads! Congratulations on the Nursing Degree and hope it increases the commissioning opportunities and numbers at the school.

couldn't agree more, folks in Charleston are so friendly its like being on another planet; a rare treat in this age. You just hope the charm and civility there don't become a thing of the past like most other cities.
