Can anyone explain the differences? DD has been told that s COA is imminent. She has a presidential nom. Are we approaching the end of this saga?

I've never heard of a COA. What is it? Nothing comes up on a search either.

I hope you are correct! Still going through MOC interviews but has a presidential nom. Seems like she is headed in the right direction.

Yes, they seem to be the same thing. My friend's portal showed COA in the status section, but said LOA at the top after "Congratulations".

They are the same. They are referred at various times as a "Letter of Assurance (LOA)", "Conditional Offer of Appointment (COA)" or "Guaranteed Offer of Appointment", the latter being the language that is actually in the email that you receive from Admissions. Which is interesting because, in my opinion, it is the least descriptive. The offer is not guaranteed but "conditional" -- an appointment is guaranteed only on the condition that you complete all of the remaining elements of your application, pass the DODMERB examination, and secure a nomination.
