R.I.P., MurfTheSurf

Heartbreaking, very sad, prayers to his family. Will miss him and his excitement on this forum.

I'm very sorry to hear of his passing. My thoughts and prayers go out to his friends and family.

RIP, Murf. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

I had the pleasure to meet Murf in person a couple times since summer and we have been in contact. We talked about lots of things and were just joking about dark ages on Monday. What a great person and a great friend, and life is indeed not fair for him to leave us so suddenly.

His son shared the news with me last night while in the airport and we just spoke again. The viewing will be on Sunday and the funeral is on Monday. I will be attending. His son said his company mates know and have reached out to support him.

I do not have the exact details of the funeral at this point, but if you pm me I could pass them on when they become available. I have his son's permission to share.

So sorry to hear this :( I too was surprised to see him banned and have missed him in the interim.

Ktnatalk-

Please pass along the caring and sympathy of the entire SA Forums community to his son and family for us when you are there.

I also noticed a few days back that he was "banned" and thought this was awkward. How tragic and horrible -- sending my thoughts and prayers to his family.

Bullet and my deepest thoughts and prayers go out to Murf's family.

ktnatalk,
When their hearts have healed, please tell them to visit this site so they may know how much he was loved for himself on an anonymous forum. How many lives he touched without setting his eyes on that person.

Yes. Ma'am. I have provided his son with the link to this thread and he has at least look at it once last night. I will bring it up again this weekend.

Updates from his son today:
Friends are invited to call on Sunday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm at the funeral homes. A funeral mass will be held on Monday at 10:30 am. Burial will be private at a later date.

I always enjoyed his wisdom and insight on this forum. Although anonymous to us, I can image he shared a wealth of knowledge to all who crossed his path.
May God Bless his family and grant them peace during the difficult days ahead.

This breaks my heart, our prayers are his family.

Murf was always ready to help when he could. I will remember the guidance and humor he provided on this site. Thanks Murf! May the peace of the Lord be with you and your family..

The viewing went smoothly yesterday. Murf is well loved by his friends and families, as one can tell by the stream of people coming in never stopped the entire time for both sessions, and the end of the line was all the way outside the building!

Although I do not work at the academy, I was able to bring with me a personal coin and a personal letter expressing his deepest sympathy from the superintendent, along with the condolences from the Command and the Brigade Master Chiefs.

Murf's Plebe son gave his eulogy at the funeral mass today. The atmosphere was solemn with a couple bursts of laughters. I was in my Service Dress Blues as one of the pallbearers per the family's request, and was able to exchange many good stories about Murf with his friends and families afterwards. I shared with them the support poured in from this anonymous forum: that how much Murf was liked and respected for his contributions to strangers he never met, but positively impacted by him!

I will be traveling back with his son tomorrow, and return him to the love and support of his company, the battalion and the brigade.

Rest In Peace, Murf! You will not be forgotten!!!

V/r,

KT
