Congressional Nomination as a Principal

Yes...the waiting is nerve wracking. Actually, that pic is his plan B. He was awarded Michigan Commander's Pick for NROTC, so he'll go that route if necessary.
 
Whether Principal or from elsewhere I hope all of you meet at the tent for lunch on I-Day (R-Day), rub shoulders for four years and sit together at graduation. They go through a lot but those Mids, and Cadets don't know what their parents go through (nerve wracking is an understatement).

I've seen that theory posted before and it's not accurate in our state. DS has nomination from the junior 1st term senator. It says congress/senator 1. He is a reapplicant this year. Last year he got a nomination from the more senior senator. Last year his said "2". So I don't think there is a method to it ... each senator is assigned either a 1 or a 2.
 
On further contemplation, does anyone think that the number reflects the Senator Class, as in the election term cycle (2012 = 1, 2014 = 2 etc.).
 
Hello all. First of all, my thanks and appreciation to all that have been so helpful on this site. I "stalked" for quite awhile and then registered last week when my DS received his letter from his MOC stating he was receiving the Principal Nom. to USNA. Letter is dated 1/18/17, he received it on 1/21. Do you know if we will have to wait until after Jan. 31st before we here about the Appointment?

Congrats, from our sons experience last year, appointment should show up on your sons portal within a week or two?
 
How do you know where you are on the "slate"? My DS received a congressional nomination and received an invitation to a nomination ceremony which he is proud and honored to attend. We have no idea how competitive our district is, how many applied, or how many were selected. He's just happy to have the nomination! My DS has not contacted his BGO to see where he stands in the process or what his "competition" is. Not sure if he should. His BGO knows he is very motivated. He's done well and is a great kid...like everyone else's. He's busy with school, LAX season beginning, and being club president. He doesn't want to bother his BGO however wants him to know that this is his #1...I'm sure he got that from the interview. He would be happy with NAPS and take it in a heart beat. Every congressional district seems to be different, just wondering what seems to be the most common protocol, if there even is one. Application is complete so at this point we just sit back and enjoy the roller coaster...correct?

Congrats on the nom, I don't think your BGO would know the answer, now the hardest part is waiting:)

I agree...he has his PFT for his NROTC MO Scholarship on Feb.4th. After that, it's time for him stay in shape, enjoy the remaining of his Senior year, and place it in God's hands. I know these kids will be placed exactly where they are meant to be. So proud of their desire to serve!

That's a very interesting article Graham. Never knew that. Sincerely. But as far as the portal goes, I think you and others are over thinking this. Each state has two senators. One is a "1" and the other is a "2" as far as we can see. There is of course a link on the USNA admissions side as to who that number is associated with. A friend of mine DS had nominations from both his state senators last year. His portal had congress/senator 1 for the first nomination, then congress/senator 2 for the next one. As I said earlier the "seniority" theory does not apply in my state for the 1 vs. 2. I don't think there is really an order. But I am sure a USNA admissions officer would have better information as to who the 1/2 is in your state than us forum speculators ;)

So he is 3 for 3? He got a call from Peters himself? Wow, congrats to him (and you!). We didn't get a call from Peters last night, DD doesn't need another nom but I think it would make us all feel better.

Congratulations to you and your DS. I'm sure that was a great feeling. We are in wait mode, like thousands of others just waiting for that call. Hopefully we'll hear something soon.
 
Actually it was Stabenow who called him personally. However, it now shows both "1 & 2" Senator on his app page. Either way, I'm glad we can all relax....at least for a while
