What is the minimum for the basketball throw for a male for the CFA? If you fail in one event but do well in the others will that jepordize your admission chances?

Minimums are not published and the best thing you can do if you are looking for a number in other CFA posts of people who have passed. I would assume the average BBALL throw is similar to that of USMA's average (which you can find online since the max's are similar.
Also, I'm pretty sure if you fail one event of the CFA, you fail the entire test but USNA may (in rare cases) ask you to retake if this is the case and they really want you. However this being said, USNA doesn't really care so much about the BBALL throw. It's only a part of the test because USMA wanted it on there. I wouldn't worry too much!
Best of luck :)

Watch some YouTube videoes on technique and practice. My Plebe was a swimmer and the bball throw was new to him. Once he learned how to do it, he added a good bit of distance. Good luck.

There are some very good You Tube videos out there on how to do the BB throw. You have to mimic a catapult action when you throw, whereas (if you're right handed) the left shoulder swings down 45 degrees, and the right arm swings up at 45 degrees during release. The torque and rotation of the body generates the force needed to achieve a decent distance. Practice, practice, practice. My DD watched videos and we would practice, make tweaks, and try again. With practice you will be amazed at how much distance you can gain. My DD gained 16 ft in about a week, all by good technique.
