College Re-applicants 2021

After not receiving a nomination last year, I had almost given up. But on 1/30 (yes, the day before the deadline), I received a call at midnight saying I received the nomination, and I had to scramble to get everything done. Does anyone know if it's possible to receive an appointment if the medical review board is still pending? The remedials have taken a long time to sort themselves out.

I'm on my second time applying. College calculus and physics is way harder that it was in high school; hopefully robotics engineering major and hard classes shows them that I'm not taking the easy road. On the lacrosse team here at my UC and got the principal nom for my district. Trained very hard for my CFA and maxed out 3 sections and did well. Really hoping for NAPS, this wait is so hard.

If you have the principal nom and are academically and physically qualified won't you just get a direct admit? Would USNA send a college applicant to NAPS? I had not thought that was even a possibility.

I am unsure if I am academically qualified, my grades weren't as great as I hoped. But yes college apps can still go to NAPS and it is all up to the Academy at this point.

Unfortunately receiving a Principal nomination to USNA does not carry the same weight as it does at USMA. My DD has a Principal this year and a recruited athlete and is sweating it.
She was told that there are typically between 150-170 college apps per year. Last year USNA gave 60 appointments to college students, including 1 prep . Also she was told that it is very unlikely to receive NAPS after a year of college, not impossible but not likely.

You can only get an appointment if 3Q and that incudes medical. If oh are pending a waiver or medical Q, you cannot get an appointment. USNA could issue an LOA with a medical Q as a condition for appointment.

I am also a re-applicant with a Principal Nomination. I did well on the CFA and am medically qualified. I took calculus my first semester of college and got a 3.72 GPA (All A's and one B+). As with fearthegoat, I am worried about academic qualification. Does anyone know if my grades are in the ballpark? I am taking 18 credits this semester and had a ~3.7GPA in high school if it makes a difference. Also, is it possible to be academically disqualified because I didn't take chem or physics in college? Thank you

DS just called to say he received a phone call from his Senator's office - he received an Appointment to the Class of 2021! DS is a college re-applicant who was wait-listed last year.
Awesome! Congrats Norfolk63! Even more so for your DS!!!!!!

No one here can say with any certainty if you are "in the ballpark" as only admissions will determine that. Certainly 18 college credit hours with all A's and a B is commendable to be sure. What you didn't mention is exactly what you did take if it wasn't chem or physics? When you look at that yourself, you may be able to answer your own question even if only on a subjective basis.

In short, there was a scheduling error that prevented me from taking physics or chemistry my first year of college. With the exception of those classes, my schedule mirrored the plebe schedule to the best of my ability. I don't see why I wouldn't be academically qualified, but I'm just anxious I suppose. Thank you for your reply.

Just be patient. It will take a few weeks to process all the MOC slates, and if you are a principal nom, it is just a matter of time, especially with having a successful semester of college under your belt.

Thank you for the reassurance. Being patient is my only choice so that's what I'll have to do.

I've only heard of one college re-applicant so far that has received an appointment. Let's hope there are many more to come. Crickets right now.

After looking through the 2021 appointment thread, there actually are three reported. But again, 3 on here is how many total given? The numbers are probably somewhere between 15-20% of the actual total, but who knows. If you haven't heard negatively, you are still in the game. That's about all we can do. I like NTWLF ONE's idea of a diversion! The wait continues...

DD is still waiting. Maybe this will be the week. I'm guessing they will appoint around 60 college apps, if 3 are listed lets assume thats 10% which would mean maybe another 30 appointments.
Stay positive.... its been a long road!

Son's first go-round, but thinking about Plan B to occupy our time. Anyone with great insights about "self-prep" for Navy? I'm a little more familiar with AF and West Coast options. Advice appreciated!
