Current Preppie at USAFA Prep School. Willing to answer all questions.

No nomination needed for a prep appointment but it's helpful if you've been through the motions of trying to acquire one. You have to apply for a nomination your prep year because you need one to get into the academy.

Thank you. DS completed his application, but did not receive a nomination for USAFA. He has nominations for three SAs. He is hoping that a Prep offer is still possible.

I'm currently at the Air Force Academy Prep School and I am willing to answer any question you have.

Hi there! Thanks for taking the time to help others! That's very kind of you. This is my first post. My DD received a USAFA congressional nomination late last year and her USAFA Prep School appointment last month.

Question: Following successful completion of the 10 month USAFAPS program, does she need ANOTHER nomination, or will her current nomination suffice/be recognized all the way through a subsequent Academy appointment?

Moreover, she's an excellent USTA competitor/tennis player with a decent ranking. What options or programs are available that would allow her to continue to play tennis at the PS and academy? Thank you!

I have noticed that now all communication with the candidate's are via portal with an email telling the candidate to check his portal. Did you receive your USAFA declination and then the prep appointment? Was this at the same time or was your heart crushed for period of time until the prep appointment came through?

She will need to reapply for another nomination next year, however if she applies for her nominations and does not get accepted there are other nominations available. Essentially, as long as you are qualified and receive an appointment to the academy following your year at the PS, there is nothing to worry about.

There are a few tennis players currently at the prep school. All of them were recruited tennis players and they practice tennis using the courts at the prep school and compete in local leagues and tournaments. Their coaches from the hill visit occasionally and at times the tennis players will head up to the academy and utilize the facilities.

Good morning,
The acceptance letter, speaking from a direct's point of view, explained that they were unable to offer an appointment directly to the Academy, however, there is a offer to the prep school available for you. I would've copied and pasted the letter if I managed to find, but couldn't; but it was essentially this for the most part. In all USAFA declination and Prep appointment at the same time.
