Denied

I was denied to 2008 Summer Seminar. A little disappointing, but it didn't stop me from receiving an appointment the next year and graduating in the top 10 percent of the class. As others have said, keep working to make your package as strong as possible for when it really matters.

I was originally denied from USMA's SLE (got a callback but didn't attend because I went to NASS and girls state), I didn't even apply to USAFA's. With that being said, I got LOA's and appointments to both USMA and USAFA and didn't even finish my USNA app. I wouldn't overthink it too much. (I am now a fourth class cadet at USMA)

I have just found out I have been denied from the USAFA Summer Seminar. It hurts, as this is my first summer seminar application to one of the academies. The best I can do for now is keep pushing and stay positive. Congrats to those who got accepted. And for those who are in the same boat as me, do not worry. There are better things coming our way.
I have recently applied to the USAFA Summer Seminar and I know it will probably be a little while before I know whether or not I am accepted, but do they email you that you are denied? Or do you just not get an email and assume you didn't make it? Thank you.

early march everyone gets decision

DD got denied but into USNA’s and AIM

Keep in mind that Summer Seminar is mostly a recruiting outreach program to encourage demographics that they struggle to recruit. Its not like a sports camp where coaches are trying to study talent to recruit.

My DS was denied USAFA SS, got USNA SS and got USAFA appointment.

BuckeyeDad20 is on-point with his call. USAFA uses Summer Seminar as a recruiting/outreach to underrepresented groups and regions, not as an accession tool. If you are selected, that is not conveyed to the admissions directorate that handles appointments. You get no points for having attended.

Apply, give it a shot, but also go for Boys/Girls State (If you get either one of those, decline summer seminar) and a myriad of other great programs!! They'll all count and give you a great experience!

I agree with all of the post to apply and see what happens. It is a great way to gain a better understanding of the academies. My DD was not selected to attend either the USAFA and USNA Summer Seminars in summer of 2018. She did not receive an appointment to start in 2019 but did receive a Falcon Foundation Scholarship. She is now at the USAFA and part of the class of 2024. Short story is don’t give up.

My DS was also denied for USAFA summer seminar 2020. He received his appointment just the other day. Keep distinguishing yourself in other ways!
