This morning I was medically disqualified from West Point for ADHD. I have been off of my medication for almost a year now, have never had any additional accommodations for ADHD, have taken my ACT off medication and scored a 30, improved my GPA by .5 points off of the medication first semester of senior year, and have taken midterms without medication. Even when I was on the medication I had used it infrequently. The only reason I was ever on medication is because I was young and my parents were convinced I had ADHD, but what 7 year old doesn't? I also just contacted my neurologist to see if I can take a test to see if I even do have adhd.

What are the odds I will be provided a waiver? Is this common? Are there any extra steps that I am able to take? West Point is my dream, and I'll never forgive myself if this is the reason that I don't get in.

Any assistance, especially professional, is greatly appreciated.

A DQ is not the end of the line. Did you get notified by WP that a waiver was denied? If not, then there is still hope.
Search the forum. There are MANY threads on the topic of ADHD.

Even if you don't get a waiver from USMA, you can pursue your goal of becoming an Army officer through AROTC at a regular college or SMC.

One more point. We all recommend that you maintain privacy and do NOT use your real name here.
I highly advise that you ask the moderators of the forum to edit out your name and to choose a different "handle" for yourself.

For example, if you are fortunate enough to be admitted to West Point, do you really want your upperclassmen to know about your ADHD issues?

I just messages an admin. My mistake on the username. I should have read more carefully.

Haha....I get it: "I should have read more carefully" (ADHD).

What is the status of your DoDMERB? Has USMA requested a waiver?
Do you have an AROTC application?
What is your Plan B, C....etc. ?

I also recommend that you visit a physician who has a military background for any follow up on the ADHD issue. Some folks have had success making contact with a former DoDMERB director named CAPT/Dr. Glenn Merchant. He is a retired Navy Surgeon and former Marine fighter pilot. He has helped a friend of mine with his son's medical documentation and usually will speak with anyone for a free initial consult.

I was not extremely interested in ROTC because I really don't feel as if a college campus is the place for me. It's really West Point or bust. My plan was, worst case scenario, go to Community College next year, get my grades up, and try again.
My status on DoDMERB says "Pending Waiver Submission/Review" This did just happen this morning. I'm just always super on top of my application and check it almost hourly so I realized very early.
I'm going to look through those forums now, and see if I can contact with CAPT Merchant.
Thank you for all of your help.
