Nice to have choices. Congrats. So, which will your DS decide to attend? The next 30 days or so will be a lot of thinking.
Yes, he has some tough decisions to make in the next week or so.
We, like many on here, have a strong military background across all services going back several generations. Of his living relatives: his maternal grandmother is a retired Army Colonel, a great grandfather was in the Marine Corps and a great uncle, who he really respects & admires, is a retired Air Force General & pilot. Add to that, his devoted dad is a USMA grad.
We visited West Point as a family 5 years ago & DS went to USAFA SS last summer (he loved the experience). He really likes both & can see himself at either, though he says USAFA reminds him most of home. Since around age 9, he knew he wanted to become a military officer by going to a SA and, at that time, was fixated on becoming a fighter pilot-so that meant either USAFA or USNA. Given that DH is a West Point and he was raised on 'Go Army, beat Navy!', he chose USAFA
. While he still would like to become a pilot, with maturity he has become more open to seeing what others jobs might interest & best suit him. That then opened the door to considering USMA as well.
In addition, he has been offered a 4 year AROTC scholarship so he has that option available to him, though for him that as always been his plan B.
We are so proud of him and will be his biggest cheerleaders & supports whichever he chooses. He keeps saying it is such a tough decision, to which we jokingly reply, "Welcome to adulthood- land of difficult decision!"
