USAFA Class of 2021 Appointments

Did USAFA mention anything to her about a waiver for her body fat?

There is a class of 2021 Corps of Cadets facebook page. They post a lot of great information. The different detachments and squadrons post info about their units. Some are more stem oriented. Others focus on fitness etc..

I recently came back from a visit to A&M and I liked it as well. I will research and see if I would like to join the Corps of Cadets just in case USAFA does not happen. Thank you for the info!

My daughter is a sophomore in the Corps at A&M and that was my son's back up before he received his appointment. It really is a great program and as an Aggie myself I am a bit sad he won't be there with his sister. The Corps has a reputation of producing excellent officers for all of the military branches. However, I'm looking forward to my sons new adventure.

They said once file was reviewed they would request waiver or have her remeasure (only 1% over) if she was getting appointment. Not really sure which will come first...conditional appointment or waiver. How about your daughter?

The last correspondence she received in August said she was over and she would be contacted if she was considered for an appointment ( probably the same generic wording your DD Received) In January, my DD worked really hard to get even more fit ( pardon the bluntness but one of her laisons for another Academy told her her butt was too muscular..Lol)...Anyhow, she dropped inches and got within 1% of the standard and contacted USAFA again and asked if she could remeasure. They reopened her file and allowed her to retape and submit. That was in January. No word since then. Still "candidate". 5' 3". Got her Dad's genetics. Not my family's 6'5" averages .

Yeah DD is 5'3" and had the same comment made regarding her muscular butt lol. She can do 7 pullups and squat as much as average guys. She's a dancer and gymnast which just builds muscle mass like you wouldn't believe! We are just waiting and hoping for a change from Candidate status soon (preferably a good change!).

Felt good after getting rejected from MIT the day before, but I intend to decline because I received an LOA from USNA. I received an appointment even though I'm still in DoDMERB limbo waiting for a Q or DQ. Is that normal?

Congrats and good luck at USNA! I believe still waiting on DoDMERB is fairly common with an appointment in hand.

I went through the exact same thing, so don't worry!! I'm a 5'2 female that didn't fall into the weight requirements, so they had me taped. Failed that too, so they told me to wait and they would either wave me or retape me. Then in February, they retapped me and I was still a bit over (probably not even within 1% unlike your DDs) and I had no contact with them until March when they sent me a waver. Then on the 15th I got my appointment! So don't give up!! It seems they take into account how well you perform on the CFA, and if you get a waver it seems like you're good! Good luck!!

The biggest piece of advice I can give is to start now. Practicing interviews, exercising constantly, drafting essays, and building a strong Whole Candidate Score are things that he can do now to help him prepare as best he can.
