Finally Got the E-mail

Yes that is one possibility, and another reason could be that a candidate's file has not been seen by the admissions board.

This is getting way to hard to cast predictions at this point. I know that tomorrow will be 3 weeks till we know something. At this point I am going to go home and drink a bottle of wine. Maybe buy clothes for a trip I planned for DS graduation present and just enjoy him a little longer while he is still here.

Vitalzt I'm curious....how can you have a viable, completed application WITHOUT any nominations? (My son had Congressional and Senate (CT) nominations and was given an appointment)

An application can be completed and submitted. Then a candidate must receive a nomination from one of their MOCs to be considered for admission and if they do not gt one, sometime they can be offered NAPS since a nomination is not required for a prep offer.

Edited: Getting a nomination is part of the 3Q, a candidate must have to get a direct appointment, if there is no nomination then they aren't triple Q'd

Hang in there. Stay tough and try again next year. This disappointment will soon turn into determination...............then nothing can stop her. I know cause we were right her last year. Good things will come out of this I promise.

She bounced back the next day. She is preparing to shop for her dorm room now. She still has about 8 more schools she is waiting to hear back from. 3 have already accepted her so she won't decide until next week. So more waiting for me.

Hang in there Vitalzt. Btw, very cool avatar you got there!

Did you actually pay application fees to 11 schools plus she applied to Navy?

I bow down to anyone who can complete 11 apps and a service academy app. My son applied to USMA and USNA but it was kicking him in the pants to complete civilian school apps. He finally did 4 but 3 were common app with supplementals. Accepted to all 4 but it is USMA who has his heart.

She has a class at school just for applying to college. All seniors have to take this class. The teacher helps guide them so it took a load off of us at home.

My son applied to USNA and USAFA but also applied for an NROTC scholarship. Which meant he had to apply to something like 5 civilian colleges, if I remember correctly. I know he applied to and was accepted at VMI, Va Tech, the Citadel, Norwich and Embry-Riddle. He also applied to and was accepted at the University of North Georgia, his plan C school, since we live in Georgia and he knew he could get a full ride and do AROTC there, if all else failed. I have no idea how he juggled all the applications, since none of the schools except UNG participated in the common app. What's more, he went to a really small high school, where few had ever gotten ROTC scholarships and no one had ever gone to a service academy, so there was little assistance for him during this process. However, he got the ROTC scholarship early on, so plan B was going to be either Va Tech or ER, both of whom offered him a full ride to cover what ROTC didn't. Thing is: I know, in this regard, he's typical of many of the kids who apply to the service academies. This is just one more way these kids go above and beyond the ordinary and why their level of commitment is so extraordinary. Even for those who don't get their long-awaited appointments, this kind of dedication and determination to serve will take them far with their plan B's and C's.

We had zero help with the USNA application. Nobody at her school had ever applied before so they didn't help.

Not true. You can be 3Q without a nom. The clarification is you must be 3Q + nom to be eligible for an appointment.
