NROTC Board Review Schedule

NavyNOLA, my DS completed his application in October and, as far as I know, the portal has always reflected "The NSTC Selection/Placement Office has received your application. All required items have been processed." Since there has never been a change in status on the portal, does this mean his application has not been reviewed by a Board? Would this be unusual for an application that has been pending for so many months? Thank you in advance for your insight.

My application says the same thing. I'm almost certain that if you have had of you materials in by October, your package has been reviewed.

I only know that I have been reviewed because a friend of the officer that conducted my interview, who was on one of the review committees, told him that he saw his name on my application package, that was in the January Board. Still waiting

I believe that all final applications from about the country had to be postmarked from the various Navy recruiting districts NLT 10 MAR, so yes, there are still some applications that have yet to be boarded for the first time.

Scholarship selection has NOTHING to do with where an applicant is looking to go to school. They don't even look at it. The best applicants get scholarships. Placement is handled later.
Navy NOLA: is there a logic flow as they go back through the ones they've scored once they have scored all the applications? For example: first we'll review all the 7-10s, then the 4-7's, etc.? Or is it by submission date, or last name, or something??

Yes. The answers are too many and not enough, in that order.

They awarded 150 scholarships on the last board, plus one Nurse scholarship. For the boards that I've seen, they've been awarding between 90 and 150. There are three boards left.

I've been told that the portal was again updated today; still no word for me. Any idea how many boards are left as of now? Thanks!
There are three scheduled boards left. The next one starts 20 MAR.

I wouldn't put a lot of faith in what the status says. Sometimes they get updated, other times not. As long as your package was sent in by the recruiter/coordinator, you're fine.

It doesn't work like that. Applications are only scored once (unless higher SAT/ACT scores are sent in). Once scored, you're added to an ever-growing list. The top X applications are selected off that list each board, regardless of when they were initially scored. Your application stays on the list until it's either selected or rejected (rejections don't start until mid-Feb). The March boards are still reviewing new applications that are being seen for the first time. The two in APR handle ASR and MSISR, in addition to all the 4-year Nationals. The process is the same each time- the top X number of applications are selected from the list, regardless of submission date or when they were reviewed.

I know someone who just got rejected but also had been in boards since they began. I've only been in boards since February. Do you believe I'm still in the running because they're seriously considering me, or because they just haven't gotten around to reviewing me?

Reading through this post it seems that the last NROTC board review in March should have released announcements around the 25th of this month. Has anyone received a scholarship from the last March review board? My application still has the following: "Missing Items - All required items have been processed, Selection Status - No decision has been made to your application." I understand if not selected for this last review board all that remains is the 2 review boards in April and the last review board in April is later than the May 1st acceptance day. Trying to determine if I'm moving to plan C.

Thank you

NavyNOLA just posted in another thread that the results should be out this week.

My DS's portal looks the same as yours... "No decision..."

I believe there are two more boards... announcements dates (based on the 2016 schedule)... should be around 22 April and 6 May... give or take a few days.

If you read what NavyNOLA wrote I think he was referring to Marine Option scholarships. Aren't those on different time lines?

Hmmm... interesting. I'm not sure now that I look at it. He was referring to the MO... but looking at the schedule... the regular is due as well. Last year there was one about 3/25 like nmchules said. While the dates haven't been exact with last year, I believe they have all been pretty close. Maybe NavyNOLA will see this thread and chime in to let us know what's right. :)

Yes, and yes. Marine Options go before a different board. No honorable Marine would let Navy officers pick future Marines. Only Marine officers would be so privileged. :D

NavyNOLA,
What are ASR and MSISR? Can't find them on the acronym list.
