Army ROTC 3rd Scholarship Board Results

Congratulations to those getting great news today, the journey is just beginning!

More importantly to those that did not, it is a tough day! But there is still hope that there are other ways to not only commission but also get scholarships. I thinks @AROTC-dad has one o the best stories. His son did not apply for Army ROTC but did not get the scholarships he did apply to. He went to a school they could afford and joined ROTC, long story short he is a sophomore/MS2 now and on a 3.5 year scholarship. Please feel free to reach out to those on the board that have been there for advice and guidance , and I am sorry to hear there was not better news today.

Will I be taking the DODMERB soon or after the first year of college since I got a three year?

If you applied to an SA and passed DoDMERB, the answer is no. AROTC will simply use the SA DoDMERB as it is good for two years.

If you did not apply to an SA, then your DoDMERB will be initiated by the school you commit to for AROTC.

Your scholarship will not kick in until your sophomore year AND you pass both the APFT and DoDMERB plus pass acadmics.

My DD got a three year and she went through DODMERB immediately. Like AROTC-dad says if you are already qualified you are good to go, if not you will be getting a letter in the mail soon onhow to proceed.

Let's say worse case scenario I fail my height weight test , will I have another chance until sophomore year?

I agree with @Dckc88. A TWE is just an obstacle. You can keep re-applying until your age prohibits you.

My DS wanted Marines since childhood. He put everything into applying to USNA and also NROTC/Marine Option. He did not receive either. He spent so much time on those applications plus sports and academics that he did not have time to apply for Army ROTC. Without the NROTC/MO scholarship, he could not afford to attend the SMC he had been accepted to. Instead he chose to attend his "safety" school close to home and be a "walk-on" non-contract cadet in Army ROTC. (No NROTC on this campus).

He worked hard and earned a 3 1/2 year AD campus based scholarship during his freshman year. Last semester he made Dean's list, while also working as a snow-board instructor on the weekends.

I asked him during his freshman year if he wanted to reapply to the SA's, he said "no dad, that will just put me behind on my goal to commission as an officer as soon as possible."

Keep your priorities in order!

Looks like DS didn't get an AROTC scholarship. AROTC was his Plan B. We are still waiting on the last 2 boards of NROTC... which is his Plan A, which is seeming less and less likely at this point. We have his plan C already in place and ready to go... and includes going to his only choice school and joining AROTC because the chances are higher there to get a campus based scholarship than with NROTC. We are attending the accepted students weekend event beginning Friday and look forward to meeting the ROTC cadre in person.

Although this is very disappointing, we believe that God is laying out the path He wants DS to take, and we move forward in Faith.

Some advice for non selects. If you don't hear from your school of choice soon contact the ROO and let them know you are coming, and that you plan to enroll in their program. If you have the chance to visit the campus and express your interest in person (admitted student days are a good place to do this) do it. There may be more scholarships available this spring and summer (don't count on these, but be aware). I am going to start lining up my incoming freshmen at Clarkson and will be building an incoming OML. The better I know you, and the more I've interacted with you the better chance you will be near the top. I'm guessing most of the good ROOs (Mohawk) will be doing the same.

We have been in regular contact with the ROO for some time now for the exact reasons you mention. He told us this same thing in a phone call with us last fall. Not all hope is lost! :)

Thankful my DD got a 3year to OHIO State! She is waitlisted though. Will anything else be posted tomorrow or is today it?

Hi everyone, congratulations to everyone that won scholarships!

I was just awarded a 4 year to three of the schools i put in my school of intent, and at all three of those schools, I was wait listed, or I decided that I do not want to go there. How can I change the school, and does changing schools happen often? (will it be possible for me to switch schools)

Thank you for your help in advance!

I guess all the Scholarships have been announced....I am so grateful I pushed my son to start on Plan B and C and both are in the works, Plan B has been more then helpful and the school has heaps of scholarships they are helping him apply for, God gives us, what is best for us. I am grateful both of my boys (twins) are graduating top 5% in their class!

Won a 3 yr AD to my #1 and #3 schools..
Wondering how many ADs get converted to 3.5 or even 4 years
this is a great question. What would the process be for this?
My understanding is that the campus based awards varies by battalion and brigade. Perhaps Clarkson or Mohawk can elaborate.

Two years ago my DS received notification of his 3 year campus based award in November of his MS-I year....it was then extended the following February to 3.5 after congress approved the budgets.

Good luck on everyone's plan B's!
