USAFA Class of 2021 Appointments

Hello!

I am in the interesting position of having received a LOA from the academy, but I am without a nomination. I spoke with my congressman's office and they said that I am on the list for a potential Vice Presidental nomination. Has anyone else ever been in this situation? Is there anything I can do at this point or is it entirely out of my hands at this point?

Congrats! Did you happen to receive a call from your MoC, or did you receive an e-mail and/or portal update?

I was sent an email that said that I had a change in my portal and then a separate email that had the subject line "Appointment update". I was later contacted by my Liaison officer with congratulations and steps to proceed with the new journey. Best of luck!

DS received an LOA last week, and like you he did not have a nomination to the AFA. When we got home this evening there was an email from the Admissions Liaison Officer from our state saying that he had received notice of DS's appointment. The portal has not updated this evening, so we are cautiously ecstatic! DS did not do anything other than wait - nor could he as we had already applied to the nomination sources available to us, but they apparently found something! I hope the same for you! Good Luck and be patient!

This morning you posted that your admissions counselor told you that you would not be getting direct appointment...wow congratulations on that not being the case!

Right! So much for being told your reading score wasn't high enough for direct entry. Congrats!
 
Thank you, actually it was a pretty crazy story. I posted on the forum several weeks ago that I received that call from my admissions councilor that I would not be given a direct entry. Along with this I have been in contact with Senator Toomey's office who gave me the Principal nom. Upon receiving the rejection, Senator Toomey's office contacted me to let me know that they also received a rejection, but they would see if there was anything they could do. Then, yesterday (on my birthday none the less) I received a call from Senator Toomey's office informing me that they responded to USAFA requesting that they review my application again because they believed I was their highest qualified candidate. Toomey's office responded yesterday informing me that upon further review I would be offered a direct entry and I will receive a portal update on April 6th. Best birthday present ever.
