Amount Of Candidates Left

Thanks for the wait list letter update. I didn't think the class size was going to shrink that low without any word provided. A few years ago when they made the class by about 100 it was well publicized. Glad that rumor has been dispelled.

And. . . less than 50% of college kids will graduate from the college they started at.

This is why many Florida resident kids go to Santa Fe Community College in Gainesville or Tallahassee Community College in Tallahassee. If they get their AA (Associate of Arts) or AS (Associate of Science) degrees from the community colleges, they can get into the University of Florida or Florida State which has become very difficult to get into for a lot of Florida students as freshmen because of the high GPA and SAT/ACT requirements. The community colleges are close to and very integrated into UF and FSU socially so many times it is a Plan A for a Florida student to go the community college route to graduate from these schools. Many freshmen and sophomores don't make it so many Florida kids come in as juniors. However, they have to get really high GPAs at community college to get accepted into the school of their choice once they get into UF and FSU such as the business, engineering, pre-med schools, etc. Out of state tuition also plays a role for some of the kids who don't stay. This is true of all of the major Florida public universities as well. (UCF, UNF, USF, UWF, etc.)

So having said this, what do you think it infers for those who are still CPR?

From what I have read all day on SAF, I can see a TWE knocking on the door:(. But I'll stay strong until I see the TWE. I am the only one still CPR under my BGO, don't know if this is something to be happy about. I was told by my BGO I was a top candidate. One got an appointment and the others got TWEs. Plan B is in full gear ready to go. There is no need to worry at this time in the game, only a few more days to go. Then we can start talks on applying for class of 2022

What threads are reporting TWE'S today?

Does this refer to how many are going out as a whole, or how many they want to accept it?

Doesn't that mean the same thing? How many appointments are offered and how many they want to accept? I would think admissions would want every person who they offered an appointment to to accept. But that is the amount of plebes they want for I-Day 2017.

I was just responding to the question of what happens to the candidates still on CPR, and the statistics I have seen so far today.

Kappapa, it's not the same thing. It's call "yield" in college admissions terms. See number from 2020 class portrait:

OFFERS OF APPOINTMENT
Men 968
Women 387
Total 1,355

CLASS SIZE
Men 851
Women 326
Total 1,177

A 86.9% acceptance rate. I believe it is highest among all SAs.

This is why the high SAT/ACT shouldn't be the end all be all indicator for success. My DS was declined by a FL university but we think he would have had a better shot if the applied earlier; we were on the wait list so they were more selective. I was a bit surprised when they said DS can't re-apply unless one has 60 credits.

Appointment target count is 1,165 for 2021. DD is on the waitlist and they shared this info in her letter.
Thanks for sharing this statistic. Reported as under 1,000 yesterday.
That document is several years outdated - my portal isn't working right now (presumably because c/o 2022 preliminary apps opened recently) otherwise I would check the exact year it was put up...2010 I think?

The offers number is just over a thousand this year, and so with the normal 89.9% acceptance rate, as the rumor I stated indicates, we may have a sub-1,000 I-Day
