For Those Awaiting an Appointment/TWE

TWE received around noon today. DD moving forward with AOG scholarship from West Point! Good luck to everyone still waiting.
My DD received her TWE this morning too. Kind of expected it, but is moving onward with her dreams. Has accepted her AOG Scholarship from West Point and will be attending the same military college as Teragram's DD! Then on to USMA Class of 2022!
Best wishes to everyone still waiting. And to those TWE'd who still dream of USAFA. NEVER STOP DREAMING! Make it happen next year!!

After all this time...I am so sorry. Some of those other great opportunities sound like wonderful platforms for growth and change--and becoming the man/woman and leader that the kids want to become--and that the Nation needs. Praying for all to find the right challenge--and have joy in doing it.

I personally want to thank you a lot RickD. A while back I had posted about having to retake my CFA (probably the thing that weighed me down the most), and since taking your advice, I have pushed myself and lost 20 pounds and ran my first 5k the other day! I cannot thank you enough!!! Was really pulling for your son, but am sure that he will move on to bigger and better things!!! I wish him all the luck!
Outstanding. That's great. Now you'll get the bug and crave the runs. I did an easy 10 this morning and got back in time to watch the last 40 minutes of the Boston Marathon. Hope you enjoyed the 5k. How did you do in your AG?

TWE received today. The irony is I got into every academy but this one and it used to be my childhood dream until I visited naval academy. Congrats to all those who received an appointment and good luck in the future to those who are reapplying or doing AFROTC.

I would think hard about self prep vs an AFROTC scholarship. In my eyes, it would depend on what they really need. If they have a strong academic background, can handle challenging college classes, and mature enough to succeed without a bunch of guidance, the ROTC scholarship is the better option. If your DD needs the extra academic preparation and some guidance to mature then the self prep would be a better option. There is nothing guaranteed and having a year of college will have him further along in his career if it does not work out. A successful year at a normal college is valued by the academy. Participating in ROTC also opens up a service connected nomination source.

My DS received his TWE today, no Appointment nor Prep School. He wants to apply for scholarships and enter Greystone Prep Academy. We didn't apply for any scholarships, as we had been told he was just what the Academies look for and at a minimum they would put him thru the Prep School. Well, now we are going to have to figure out another way. I see people mention Air Force Reserves as a good way to get in, when re-applying, I see ROTC as a good way, but I am a single mom with no support from his dad. I can't afford to pay for him to go to Prep School and from what I have read you can't get FAFSA or normal aid. He would have to get a whole lot of Scholarships to cover the really high tuition for the year. He's Academically highly prepared, top of his JROTC, jut receive Billy Mitchell award in CAP, very strong resume. I need to know what would be the smartest thing to do. We can't apply for JRotc Scholarship, too late. Help, if you know from experience.

Got rejected today. Principal nom from CA-37.

@FeartheGoat I'm so sorry to hear bc I've been following your posts. Since you were princ nom, are you allowed to ask why? Or where you came up short, according to them? My DS is a Jr so we are just starting the process but I always thought princ nom was pretty close to golden ticket. I have found a wealth of information on this forum, so I was just curious about MOC nominations going forward. Again, sorry for the news. If you are up for sharing any info from RC, it's always helpful but understandable if still too soon. Wishing you the best!

Well, with the Mitchell Award, if he joins the Reserves he'll enter as an E-3 (A1C).

Some schools have ROTC scholarships available through them. You would have to really research what's available.

I just received my TWE as well. The entire process has been quite the roaler coaster for me, especially since right after my interview with my ALO, he told me that I was practically a shoe in and that I should expect to get an appointment. Oh well, looks like it just was not meant to be. At this point, I am just super glad that I applied to a plan B school and received a Type 1 AFROTC scholarship to go there, since I will most definitely be going that route now.

MMI in Alabama has great private scholarships through their school. They help make it very affordable. As a top academic performer he could earn money tutoring in their academic success center. Please PM me if you'd like additional info.

That's amazing! I can't wait to be able to get up to that level. Ever since running, I can't seem to sit still for a day. Have to at least walk somewhere haha. I'll need some help with that acronym though. AG...? :D:D

TWE today for DS, we are all sad but only for a while. We learn from this, move on and Plan B is good to go.
Even though many are called but few are chosen...at least we had the opportunity to compete.
Thank you to all in this forum for the tips, replies, info, opinion and advice.
Best of luck to all appointees and those in still the fight.

Age Group. How did you do against those folks?

Also received the dreaded TWE today. CA-26. To everyone who has received a TWE, please don't forget the fact that every single one of you is a warrior for being willing to serve for your country and lasting thus far. It's an honor to be living in the same country as you guys; the future is bright!
