USMAPS2018

Long time lurker, first time poster. DS was called by RC last week and was asked if he was interested in USMAPS.....no portal change today, offer made by phone call this evening - he was honored to accept. He is young for his grade, a year of Prep will be very good for him.

Congrats! See you on July 17th. Save the date.

Hi- question for those heading onto USMAPS, would you mind sharing any of your stats? DS is starting app process. His GPA is 4.3 (3.8 UW), 5 AP/IB courses last year, 5 this Sr year, NHS, job, comm service, ecs, but his SATs are just around 1250. He's taking them again 2x this fall but was wondering if USMAPS or NAPS could be a possibility? ( I do realize it's an online forum & no one from admissions, don't know if you don't apply- but I have found many threads on here so informative & valuable, I thought I couldn't hurt to ask:)

Is your son apply for WP class of 2022? With his current academic stats and some extra work on his SAT, he should be competitive enough for WP admissions (not USMAPS).

Biggest thing that is looked at is class rank. GPA is less of a factor.

With his stats he is academically qualified (unless his writing score on SAT is low and that could qualify his for USMAPS). DD had similar stats with a bit higher SAT/ACT score and she was offered a AOG sponsored prep appointment which she accepted. If they want your DS but there is not room in the class for direct appointment, a sponsored civil prep spot is what they call the "golden ticket" for following years class. Search civil prep on this forum and you will find all kinds of information :)
