PTR

Just got ours today in VA...not too far from Annapolis! We got ours exactly 1 week after accepting the appointment on the website on the portal. 7:00am report time.

Good to know! Our DS accepted his appointment a week ago last Saturday so hopefully it arrives soon!

Received the PTR today, roughly a week and a day after accepting appointment. Of course the vaccination sheet is slightly different than the one that I downloaded from last year and its yellow! So back to the doctors office to have him sign the new one...don't want to make the immunization folks upset with a slightly different form. Don't forget I was in the Navy nurse corp so let's just leave it at that. DS is at a lacrosse game and my OCD wants him to get this done so ASAP.

So I scanned my DD's and sent to her doctor for completion so I will be getting a scanned copy back-will this suffice?

In the directions, wasn't there something about sending in 1 and having separate copies and bringing 2 copies with the plebe on I day? The "Important Information..." document says "Please mail one copy and hand carry two copies of this form to the Induction Day Immunization Station..."

Yes that's what it said but the yellow sheet they sent in the packet is heavy duty paper like the Navy uses for important medical forms so I'm assuming they want that one returned for their reference and copies made from that to bring on I day.

Exactly same as what we are doing. Just want to make sure we have all the immunization done before we get to I day. Having shots going into PS would suck.

Does anyone know if DS should bring his passport to I-Day, or wait till PPW to give to him? Also in the PTR packet there were 2 forms for publicity, are they for your own reference and local newspapers or do you send them back in the manilla envelope? They weren't on the checklist.

No, those are for your own reference.

Doubt there will be any use for the passports during PS. We're waiting to hear when they might need them but doubt will need before end of plebe year.

Agree with the publicity. Did fill out the white one to send back though...

As you all know who follow this thread, we are still waiting for PTR even though DS received an appointment in November, has an early initial last name, etc...we contacted admissions and they agreed the first one is lost and are sending a replacement...so for anyone else still waiting who wasn't appointed very recently, check with admissions if you're still waiting

No need for passport. Also USNA will issue them an official Gov't Passport if they travel for USNA. Duaghter has her own passport and one from the USNA.

Although a Plebe will feel like they are on another planet for a few weeks they won't need them. Bring PPW. And USNA will issue official government passports if needed, but always recommend all military members keep their blue one up to date and ready to go. I got some nice TAD out of it a few times simply due to that.

.

We were always told to carry both Official and Unofficial passports. That was shortly after a Sailor traveling on orders was singled out and killed by hijackers because of his official passport.

DD had both Blue and Red Coming back from China. Customs Officer asked "Who are You and who do you work for" when she presented a Red Passport. Keep and get the Blue up to date as in many ports of entry you will not be allowed to leave the ship or enter a country without one. Son is Merchant Marine and needs one every where he goes.

Correct me if I am wrong but I don't think USNA issues Passports but they may help work on the process.

I think I know what NavyHoops meant - USNA does not actually "issue" but facilitates the official request and submission through DOD channels to DOS. I got mine through my command, and it came to me via Govt mail at the command.

Does anyone know what the Midshipman Publicity Background Record card and the white envelope addressed to the dean of admissions (stamped with PAO) are? Do they go together? I couldn't find any info about them in the booklet or checklist. Maybe I missed something

Your timing was perfect. I was just about to reread the instructions in an attempt to answer the very same question.
